True. They really weren't bad to begin with. Come to think of it, neither was Riddick.

The movie was really good. I think most of the bad review came from people who tought they would be seeing another Pitch Black movie. The chronicles of riddick shares more with Star wars or Dune, then Aliens.

The last fight scene was a little off, but the others were very good.

I don't think the bad reviews are coming not from people who thought that it was going to be another pitch black movie, but more from people who realize that the writing in the film was poor, and could have been alot better. I mean seriously, there were many lines in the film that could have been changed or removed completely. You could have easily taken out half of Riddick's lines. And in fact I think he should have talked less. And there were many other cases of this (like the mention of a 30 year old prophecy. How about 300 or 3000 instead? that much more impressive and makes more sense with for how long the necromongers have been around).

I have to say amen. Riddick would have been a lot cooler if he was one of those none talkative types. The kind that gets to the point and doesn't have time for pointless side dialogue that doesn't make sense or just ruins the atmoshere or whatever. I think they were trying to pass Riddick off as a badass, but he would have been much more badass-ish without so much talking.
I think they should have deffinately made it a longer prophecy at the least, but I would have preferred it to have had no prophecy at all.
I haven't seen pitch black and I didn't like this movie. I do want to see pitch black though. I'm so lonely.

Indeed, the movie got bad reviews for good reasons, but that doesn't mean you don't have to still like it. I like a lot of cheese in my films sometimes...

As for Riddick, he became the well known badguy from all his one liners in the first film, but of course in the first film even in the end..he was still the "bad guy" for obvious reasons:

1 He was just gonna leave them all there to be eaten by the creatures if the one chick hadn't caught up with him in time and changed his mind, for what ever reasons amusing enough to him to actually go back and help them.

2 ..he killed that one chick to save his own ass

Frankly I wanted to see more of this quality in Riddick's character in CoR, using people to get what you want, only to off them later on if the opportunity reviels itself. I wanted to see more backstabbing and manipulation...turned out that Vaako chick was doing more of that than Riddick was...O.o

Still it was a good action adventure flick, that and a guy dies by teacup...fucking TEACUP....O.o
