Welcoming Pad or Whatever

Hello!

Welp recently a new nOOb came to town and he didn't know where to post a topic about asking for help or whatever but he also wanted to introduce himself or herself (not really sure about that one) but there was no welcoming area so he suggested that there should be a welcoming area. Well he never came here to suggest it so I'm going to suggest it for him!

THERE SHOULD BE A WELCOMING AREA!

There thats done. Oh and I think it should be called the Welcoming Pad

Why does there need to be a welcoming area? I've never seen another forum with one. People can just mention that they are new when they make their first post.

There used to be a welcoming foum, but ppl left off steam and spammed like hell so it was removed.

Then obviously you haven't been to alot of forums. Just because you haven't seen a forum with one doesn't mean there isn't one. There are probably millions of forums out there, just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean you should count it out.

Yep, there are forums like that. There's often a forum called 'Welcome Mat' or something, and it's set up so a member can make only one new topic there, ever, and it is autolocked after 1 week.

I'd consider that.

because that nOOb also posted in the wrong forum and didn't know the rules.

It will give Mods and other members a good chance to say.

Funny, I always thought that the Site Suggestions forum with a Welcoming Forum/Mat suggestion topic always tends to work well for this purpose for the people who join the site and want one without the ensuing flamewars(usually).
