AIM Chat Room rules
There's a big difference between having rules and enforcing rules.
Ah, but you never said anything about the rules being enforced.

Besides, I have gone to the AIM chat for more than 2 years and it's a shadow of its former self. It used to be every night from 8 PM to midnight EST and beyond you could find at least two or three back-to-back lively conversations with 15-20 people. I'm not exactly sure when it started but may 9-12 months ago, those conversations started drying up and although there might be a lot of people in there, no one's talking. It's kind of depressing. But perhaps I'm missing the "primetime hours"?
My favorite video: Grilled Steak Trigun I LOVE THE COPS! Rargh!
I ain't 2 proud 2 beg! haha school rumble is great
Why do I always have the most preposterous sigs???
My current favorite thread. I'm a huge fan of GA-JAMMING.

ya, its actually a law that if a law isnt inforced, you can break it. its just that if they start inforcing it, they can also get u for the rules u broke when they werent enforcing it... pretty pointless law :?

It seems to be jumpin with conversation every time I show up...of course I suppose that it's possible that's just a result of me, although I don't know if I'm enough of an egotist to really make such a sweeping claim without definitive analysis.

the AIM chatroom was notorious for having random 10-20 min dry spells where no one talked for what ever reason and just idled there. Other than that it was pretty lively.

I'd say *IF* the majority of them stick it out for say, oh at least a good 3 weeks it *might* develop into a popular hangout. But the likelyhood of that is very low. One of the reasons why the AIM chat room is popular is simply because of the fact that there are no rules. If the IRC chat has rules though, then really, it's not any different from chatting on the board, which most people are already familiar with and used to.

I'm curious, what exactly would you say that the new IRC channel has to offer that the boards don't already have?
The IRC channel actually has some interesting and entertaining stuff going on in it? I visited the aim chat room occassionally over the time it was around. I could never stand it. Lots of mindless drivel for the most part. I've actually been talking in the new irc channel more than I do on any of my other channels.
What does it have to offer that the forum doesnt? Well, perhaps its a bit too obvious for you to notice, but its a *CHAT*. The board is not a chat

LOL

Just so everyone knows, the corruption has started already! The primary difference between the AIM chat room and the IRC chat room is that in the IRC one you can get banned because it's "that time of the month" for NME. Check it out:

<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> Never mind, the link was wrong (farkin Google)
<Tab> So anyways Matt
<Tab> tell me again why we're suddenly in an AMV contest?
<Zarxrax> im pretty sure this was out before the R1 dvds were released too
<Kalium> Zarx: has to be
<Kalium> the number is too low
<Kalium> the premiere date too early
<TsunamiJones> privatecaboose: i'm so downloading that
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> For fun, Tab, you know what that is right?
<Tab> well yeah, but I mean
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> You've never released a real AMV, I want to see one from you
<NicholasDWolfwood> Tab will win.
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> I don't care who wins
<Tab> I thought it was supposed to be about encoding
<PrivateCaboose> tsunami: the works of my bordem
<Onideus_Mad_Hatter> I just want to see a video from Tab
* NME|LOLLERSKATES sets mode: +b *!*@ZiRC-2E0E9B64.porch.wa.charter.com
#AMV You are banned (#AMV)
* You were kicked by NME|LOLLERSKATES (Excessive Lameness)

Just for the record, I fucking love NME

Get your own IRC channel or something. Every one of my brother's friends seems to have one of their own - so gee, how hard can it be? Or better yet, keep to AIM.

See, this is why I don't go to chat. I couldn't possibly take these things so seriously.

A note to NME: please ban me if I ever show up there for whatever reason

Hmmm? I've used IRC on Macs since System 7. Nowadays, I use xchat...
Shush, , they are obviously cyborgs. I can't make irc work on mac. For for a while I would give it about a 2 hour try every month or so. I did get it to chat finaly, but never could get the thing to look nice, or stop spouting random numbers at me. 1991ijkao3r434!!!! (LIKE THAT)
Or allow me to download ANYTHING. Thank God for Bittorrent. 1991ijkao3r434!!!! (LIKE THAT)

I'll check out xchat though. ^_^

I'm going to agree with Whee_It's_Me a few posts back. You can make it the unoffical aim chat room, but why not leave it on the site. It's a place a lot of people like to go that are into amvs. This is an amv site. You can have your controled irc channel AND the aim chatroom. Also I'm afraid that somehow the insaneness that is the aim chatroom just spill into something I really enjoy, like the amv mailing list. We have the amv chatroom there to let those that just want to mess around do their thing. Don't like that kind of thing, don't enter. It's your site now, but I still don't see the harm in allowing it to exist as a link on the site.

One thing that really bugs me about the forums right now is there is no place for amv fans to just hang out and bond as people. That's what a community is about.

Thanks for getting rid of all those excess posts though. >_<

Can someone please tell me how I can still get into the aim chat room?
