Hello,

I would like to know if the expo is going to have an Anime Music Video contest?

Thanking in advance,

Well, Toronto's your best bet for now it seems.

I mean, come on. I'll be (unless I'm still broke) going there in August from Ottawa, and I don't think it's that huge a difference

I've never heard of a con in Ottawa. I meant I was going to CNAE in August, in Toronto. Actually, I meant to go to Anime North too (and I surely will one day), but May was always a bad time for me financially.

Arranging either to stay with local friends or relatives (if there are any to be found) or splitting a hotel room with a few other folks going that way usually seems to be a good way to pad the costs. Still, not cheap.

Well, I hope they set up a contest for the Montreal expo, seeing how CNAE's contest (despite sometimes-odd winner choices) has been pretty popular in T.O. judging by how there has never been enough room in the theatre for the past 3 years (since the contest has been running).

We're working on starting a small one. (in early November)

We have enough people to charter a bus to go down. I think it's $225 for transportation, hotel, and entrance to the con. (may vary with how many people you share a room with)

Really? Excellent! Finally, a con I won't have to pay an assload to get myself to (I'm moving to Ottawa in less than 3 weeks)

From Ottawa? Well, if so... that does sound reasonable enough with hotel included. Usually I stay over at one of my parents' friends' houses, so it kind of ends up being cheaper, although hotel is sometimes a better option (especially when those friends are busy or away at the time of the con)

Definately keep us posted on this Doki. I <3 Montreal and using a con as an excuse to go there would be awesome, not to mention I'll be in Ottawa by that time too ^.~ (much closer than the Toronto region)

I thought we were talking about AN with the bus thing here

And there is a con in Montreal, http://www.hobbystar.com/montreal-eng/

Hobbystar also runs CNAE - so I wouldn't be surprised if they get someone there to do an AMV contest eventually. CNAE has only been running them past 3 years themselves.
