That's not what I meant, I could easily log on to that chat with the nickname "Absolute Destiny" since it doesn't require a password. Whereas you needed an account to use AIM. Not everyone has access to IP addressesAbsoluteDestiny wrote:That's not true at all. On IRC you can get a log of someone's IP. On aim, someone can join claiming to be anyone they like.Moonlight Soldier wrote:The only thing wrong with this IRC plan is that it's easier for members to pretend to be someone else =/

I was thinking though, theres' this one forum I'm on that uses a chat that logs you in as whatever your sn is on the actual forum, and you can set it to only let people logged in can use it. Ever considered something like that maybe?

Actually, on the IRC network that we're using there are services where you can protect your nick from being used without a password. If anyone's having trouble on getting them to work, feel free to message me and I can help with it. But that still doesn't stop people from signing on as Absolute-Destiny or 4B501U73-D3571NY or any permutations, but that's what ops are for.Moonlight Soldier wrote:That's not what I meant, I could easily log on to that chat with the nickname "Absolute Destiny" since it doesn't require a password. And on IRC, ip addresses are available to everyone. A simple whois on the relavant nick will reveal such information.

There was talk about that, but it would have been problematic to execute.)v(ajin Koji wrote:I like that idea.Moonlight Soldier wrote:I was thinking though, theres' this one forum I'm on that uses a chat that logs you in as whatever your sn is on the actual forum, and you can set it to only let people logged in can use it.
