like the last 3 ppl, i agree, but let's not make it sound like we're condemning you

we don't WANT you to leave, we're just saying not to focus so much on a video's video quality and pay more attention to the concept behind the video

...i guess i'd be an semi-good example of video quality evolution, if you compare one of my old dbz videos i have uploaded, they both have the same crappy source, but if you compare it to my new blood the last vampire video, my source footage is greatly improved, even my low-quality version that is temporarily available until Paulo says no mas isn't too bad

btw, i'm not saying my old videos were that good, they're okay... for a noob, but for the argument of the thread, you can go ahead and watch them and be happy that at least 1 editor has gotten the hint

actually, since i only have one good example of good quality, a better example of an improved video quality editor would be MeriC, she's got a lot of old videos with BAH! quality, but she's learned better and now has made a TON of HQ AMVs

so bad quality isn't a cancer of the site, more like a stepping stone on the path to... prettier AMVs ^_^

Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

It depends what the problem is, if it's just an occasional image breakup it isn't normally a problem, but some videos are just a pixellated mess. I can forgive older videos where they had to be made using VHS footage, but in these days of DVDs and good quality codecs it's unforgivable. Heck, you can even get decent results from fansubs with a little effort! If I see a new video with crappy video quality my first impression is that the creator's been lazy and I'm inclined to stop it and delete it.
then...don't watch it. we've already said it once...we've said it twice...how many times have we said it now? if its so distracting stop watching. you control your hands and your eyes.
Um...isn't that what I said? That I'd stop watching the video and delete it?
and as pwolf said...the quality of the video doesn't matter on this site.
That wasn't the point I was making. The fact is, people make videos so others watch them. By making something that looks that bad, they create a very bad first impression and risk people just switching off, so it defeats the object of making the video. In the end, if you've spent hours or even days making a video, why not spend a little extra time making it look good (or at least half decent?)

That isn't to say I think videos with bad video quality should be banned, as I said it would be unworkable to do so. I simply don't agree with the idea that bad video quality is "no big deal." IMO, it's like graphics in computer games: sure, the way it looks isn't everything, but it's important.

not true, most people make videos for themselves to watch, that's why it doesn't matter if someone doesn't like it as long as you're happy, but this is relative anyway, people make videos for different reasons, so some make them for themselves, and some for others, and some for other reasons, let's not generalize.

nicely said and i think that sums up the feelings on this topic and what i agree with

So it is a big deal? Should we make a big deal about it? And just to note, I stopped playing old video games, because the graphics hurt my eyes, and destroys most of the joy factor.

I just like watching the videos, i haven't gotten into making them yet (though i have edited lots of other things i use AMVs for creativty in my other video produtions) bad quility is well bad but if you really like it ask the author most will make a higher quility one for you if you ask them very very nicely, (though some have deleted the source file already) i mean not only crappy video but wat about all the subs and DIVX in the corner i mean doesn't anyone go into the DIVX options and turn that sucker off? anyway i still enjoy them and though i with it would be better as me being one of them

Which is why FFVII is regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time. It doesn't have to look good to be awesome.

Wow...............I'm amazed at how one little message rallied such a force of controversy. I didn't even expect a page to fill :P. No need to worry about my feelings^_^. I don't really care if your opinions differ. That is what makes the world so great. Also i wasn't talking about the ones where there is a little pixely bit. I'm talking the stuff where I cannot tell the difference between a person and a chair. I love the Ah My goddess: Iris video and it's a little pixely but when i can't tell what's going on it is hard to follow. I also have found 40 meg vids that are that bad they are just really long>_>. Well even if it was to fight my viewpoint I appreciate the attention^_^ PS. I usually do just stop and delete then but that is 40 megs of my badwidth and 8 minutes of my time I will never get back :P(Oh well. I prolly would have wasted them anyways XD) Well check you all later! Peace!
