Well, there is obviously something wrong there...Pyle wrote:![]()
Don't know if I'm wrong here, but if you knew something about computers, you would realize that is incredibly slow. I got 2.6ghz on my cpu and it still barely runs the AMV @_@.
Do people relize the importance of a Codec?

MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY : \Voices_Of_Ryan wrote:Can't, newegg sent me a defective processor, it fried the motherboard along with the videocard (the ram is ok though =\).
And it says in their contracts if anythings fried weather or not it was a defective part's falt, it's not their problem.
So I'm fucked.
both intel and AMD provide a one to two year warranty on their processors. it takes a little longer to get replaced sometimes, but unless you borked the thing overclocking it, they should have no problem replacing it. same deal with your motherboard and video card. you're not fucked, you just might have to wait a little while longer to have the comp put together.
you'll have to pay shipping on the parts obviously, but the manufacturer will pay to ship them back to you. check on their websites for more info.

I personally don't like AMVs in mpeg. They always (and I mean always) have much lower quality - if it's not about ringing and blocking, then it is about 320x240 resolution. Most often both.
My opinion might not mean much because of my involvment in xvid - but guess what, I would prefer high-resolution realvideo10 over CIF mpeg. I mean it.
Oh, and before you say that "filesize doesn't matter for me", don't forget that golden donut pays for your filesize
Also, xvid takes just about the same processing power as mpeg-1 if it has the same resolution. Therefore, quite a lot of "mpeg-1 over xvid" argument is in fact "low res over high res". If you put it this way, it's quite valid.
Regards,
Radek

So going back to the question, why do you suppose he's having trouble with playing XviD then?
Myself.... well, you can try, but I don't think anyone will separate me from my 2-pass XviD encodes too easily. While it's true that MPEG will still be more compatible for everyone (considering most computers can play it without having to install any additional codecs or programs), I really can't see how it can approach, let alone do better than what I presently got.
Although I won't deny that I kind of assume that most people around here have hardware that runs this stuff as smoothly as mine, and perhaps wrongly so...

One reason for this might be that I still use an older build of XviD, although I plan to switch eventually (once I hear, and especially see more, as far as its' merits).
Yea, just get the newest build. That should solve it.

Yeah I prefer Xvid over Mpeg as well. I actually will download an AVI over an Mpeg given the choice because I think they look better (Xvid/DivX looks cleaner to me, personal preference I guess)Otohiko wrote:Myself.... well, you can try, but I don't think anyone will separate me from my 2-pass XviD encodes too easily. One piece of advice:
Go to Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides and get the Xvid build used for encoding from the link there. This solved a number of Xvid problems on a friend’s computer.
