seems like a good idea to me too
but just to clarify...
hentai would qualify as which/how many of the following:
1. nudity (plain show of skin.. that's normally considered sexual)
2. sexual activity (can include kissing)
3. naked sexual activity (kissing/making luv naked)
obviously number 3 would count, but would you include things like kissing which leads to sex, or even nudity which i would think is part of the sexual preparation?
that was strangely well organized!

I think you should add the category, and automatically block any vids listed under it from being uploaded. That way, you still have proper listings that are easy enough to both search and sort out/avoid, and no harm is caused...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

This is a good idea in the abstract, but it won't really change anything: people who are conscientious enough to set the hentai flag would also respect the Donut TOS and not try to upload their h-vids in the first place, and people who want to risk a ban by putting porn on the server will just deselect the hentai category after getting their video blacked out on the upload dialog...if they ever set it in the first place.Otohiko wrote:I think you should add the category, and automatically block any vids listed under it from being uploaded.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

This has been raised as an idea before and what was decided was that the org did not want to become a place people visited to in order to search for porn.
Of course, the argument is much more complex than that but that was the most important point raised in the past.
Also, Hentai isn't an amv genre, it's a source type. Porn would be a genre (as that would mean videos designed to arouse) or erotica. Do the creators of hentai music videos really want their videos to be classified purely and simply on the merits of the source they use?
I'm just typing as I think. On the whole I think having it as a category would go against the spirit of the site, as the practice in the past has been to allow people to list them but not allow people to directly link them and not aid users in finding them in their search for porn footage. I think that principle will probably remain unless there is a hugely convincing arguement to overcome this more practical issue.

I agree on the "hentai isn't a genre" part. But i think maybe there should be an option that will identify the video as having adult content. So far there really isn't anything saying you have to put "this contains adult content" in your video comments, so any 8 year old kid watching amvs with his parents could come across one of these video. i think it should be more of an option you flag when creating the video (or even a specific anime can be flagged as hentai) so when you view the video's page, it will say it contains adult content. just a thought
