First off I would like to say that anime is not all about blood, gore, violence, sex, etc etc. Anime has is simply a style of animation... the fact that there are a large number of anime out there that have violence, sex, etc is just due to the culture of Japan.
In Japan even adults watch anime. Hence some anime is not intended for younger viewers (you would not show something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll to a 5 year old). Now in comparison with North America, adults do not watch "cartoons" (as most people would classify anime as a type of cartoon).
Now to bring my point across. Japan's culture includes anime as something which everyone does (including adults), but since in North America cartoons are viewed as a form of entertainment mainly for children companies believe that anime needs to be censored (their thoughts or figures show that children are the main consumers of anime).
Personally I do not believe this to be fair and this is why I posted a reply to it earlier. I believe it is wrong to censor something just because our culture defines cartoons (anime) or comics (manga) as something for children. Some manga are writen for children, and some anime are produced for children. So I simply want the industry to bring me uncensored anime and manga and if they want to appeal to children as well then bring the anime and manga that is written/produced for children.
Well anyways that's my 2 cents, please let me know if I have incoherently babbled about something that I don't know. ^_^[/quote]

Madokai, I feel the same way. But to this sad nation it's all about money and power and stupid people who live in the real world 24 hours a day only thinking that life real life is where everything is at. Anyway there is to much of that congress, goverment and busness people who just think from there point of views. They never will understand. I think Anime is a way to ESCAPE this world that we live in. I mean all of this same boring stuff you see everyday. I beleive that Anime was made just to escape reality. To get away from everything here. I have also read something somewhere in these posts about how Anime and Manga wasn't really introduced until after WWII. So I belevie thats why many people in Japan got more used to anime and manga. Sorry if I went off topic but it's just I have held all of this in for a long time and needed it to get out
If the army or navy ever looks upon heavens scenes, they would see that the streets are guarded by the United States Marines.

What are we going to do? Censorship is horrible, but it's everywhere. Actually, censorship is one of my mortal enemies, it's a horrible drain of worthy content substance. What's more, it's an epitimy of the learned taboos over substance and context, a wide spread style of thinking that I hate.
But what's to be done about it? Dragon Ball Z is worthless in its dubbed form, so just watch the Japanese. If the Japanese isn't available for a series, get bootlegs. Censorship is horrible, as are a lot of things, but we've just got to get around them.

Censorship is necessary, to an extent. Unfortunately, as a result, a lot of media suffers.HeartbreakerByZep wrote:What are we going to do? Censorship is horrible, but it's everywhere. Welcome to the Org. It's a pleasure meet you.CyberSilver wrote:You. Yeah you. Shut up. Your no longer allowed to speak.
Than you'll be watching anime meant for kids. The gov't has taken the responsibility of protecting youth like you from material they deemed inappropriate. Even though its annoying to you, its in row with your parents or at least those parents whom are in contol of the media industry.Yes we WOULD like to see uncensored all the time.
*looks down at next quote*You probably been whatching those dirty animes that you dont know are dirty till you see em. Thus you think thats how the majority are. Actually its about 50 50. 70 30 considering half the bad stuff never makes it to america...
You assume too much. I watch a variation of anime. You know, the kind that has a sensible story and some meaning. If by chance you are referring to hentai, than do so. Also, your statistics are flimsy. You'll have to provide a source, because it looks like you are just spouting numbers off the top of your head.
Exactly. And never assume. This forum is made up of MOSTLY mateur (Notice i saide MOSTLY) people.
So, we agree. And While I don't think that they should chop up anime and censor it so Kids can whatch it, I think TV censorship is good because... lets face it. Half of Adult Swims rateings and nearly all Cartoon networks rateings are made of Kids bellow 13.
Things of worth take time. Like bittorrent. *grr*Im useing them as an example mind you. I mean this about all channels. But I also believe that if they plan on cutting it up, then atleast recognize the fact that us true anime fans exist and release the anime on DvD or VHS at the same time (i.e. Not 10 years after they stop airing it).

You're definetly right. Cesnorship has a certain extent of necessity. But the evil it commits far outways its importance, since acceptable things can still be made without having to censor things deemd unsuitable.ryuu_hime13 wrote:Censorship is necessary, to an extent. If you want to see the uncensored version of an anime, go buy it on dvd.
Censorship is necessary becuase:
1.) Even though most of us here are not easily offended by explict content there are some people who are. They are the people who like to start lawsuits over this type of thing because they have been mentally scarred.
2.) Kids. You don't necessarily want kids to see uncensored anime. They tend to be easily influenced.

If you can go through life saying that the only "evil" you commited was editing a T.V. show then I think you'd be a rather nice person.
Evil was the wrong choice of word.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

What you say has a point. In Michigan a 5th grade student beat the crap out of a 3rd grade student because he was watching yu-yu-haksho (at the begining of the series when yurimushi was fighting at school) and yuskay beat the crap out of people at school. In Alabama some 6th grade student picked up a tree branch and beat the crap out of 2 7th grade students. He said he was watching a show witch a person had a sword and was kiilling demons with it. (Inu Yasha) He called the branch Tetsuiga. Anyone else here any storiessomeperson wrote:2.) Kids. You don't necessarily want kids to see uncensored anime. They tend to be easily influenced.
