Is it possible? For the first time in weeks, have I actually gotten a review up on time?! It is! (although it's mainly because I don't have anything to distract me from actually typing it up, like a vid. BTW, if you want to see the vid that I finished the link is in my sig /endshamelessselfpimpage) So anways, without further to do, here's the review of an at least decade old series: The Guyver!

The Guyver (spoilers = light)

Sho Fukamachi is of course, just your average high school student (who saw that coming?). Until one day, he accidentally finds, and accidentally activates, a strange piece of alien technology, which turns him into, The Guyver! Unfortunately, not all is fun and games for Sho, as an evil organization wishes to reclaim the Guyver unit, and sends Zoanoids (men who’ve been genetically altered to transform into Power Ranger-esque monsters) after him to reclaim it! Too bad for them that the Guyver is an ultra-powerful killing machine that will rip them apart from head to toe in a bloodfest of violence!

Most of you right now are probably thinking, “Wow. That sounds cheesy.” And let me tell you that you’re pretty much dead-on with that assumption. The script is cheesy, the voice acting is cheesy, the action, while gory, is still cheesy. But hey, I still manage to go along for the ride and enjoy the show; and I’m willing to bet that most of you can too.

Okay, first off, the show is pretty much all action, and the story leaves much to be desired on just about every other level. But hey, mindless action is almost always enjoyable, especially when it’s short and sweet. Which, this series is. The show is only a might twelve episodes, which is out on DVD on two volumes (when Manga picked it up, they released it on VHS over twelve volumes . . . yes, that’s lame putting one episode per tape, but you can get each tape now for around five bucks each if you want to go that way for some reason, as it’ll still cost more than both of the DVDs). But anyways, even though The Guyver fights incredibly lame, cheesy monsters, the action is still decently good and enjoyable, although the animation is decently old, and it definitely shows.

Now, what would an action packed show without good music and sound be like? Well, it would be like The Guyver. The music most of the time is boring and repetitive, and the one thing in the show that was decent (the original themesong) was removed by Manga. And even besides the music, the sound effects in the show leave much to be desired.

So, here we have a short review for a short series. Even with all of it’s drawbacks, I’m still going to give the show a 3 outta 5. It’s still enjoyable, and the action overall is pretty good. Plus, if one wants to invest in the show, it’s decently cheap. So there you have it. The Guyver, is pretty much a middle-of the road kinda show, with enough action and violence to keep one’s interest until it finally ends.

Hmm this sounds a bit interesting. When you say it is cheesy, how much cheesy. can you compare it to a cheesy anime that might be on the same level. But anyway it all sounds good from what I here from you. I might want to try and pick it up

Ummm . . . I guess it's medium cheesy? It's more cheesy in the looks department of the monsters. so I guess you could say that's its on the cheesyness of crappy monster movies, or Power Rangers, without it actually being bad enough to where it's funny.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention, is that the english dub is one of the worst that I've ever seen.

If only the two characters had more in common . . .

But speaking of even more cheese, there are two live action American made Guyver movies that have Mark Hamill in them!!

I had totally forgotten about Guyver.
Greatest theme song ever. Oh, don't forget there is a live action Guyver as well. Bahhaha.

If you want cheese comparison, I'd have to say more like the old master of the universe cartoon. Lots of repeated sequences, and lets just say, if you are going to activate the bio booster armor, you are better off if you are a guy. (guy... guyver, nah to easy).

Yeah, to bad that those bastards at Manga decided to take it out!

And yeah, that's an excellent comparison. Although it's better than the old He-man cartoon. Alot better.

Actuly I seen the guyver seres and two of the live action movies. I liked the story and it got me hooked when I saw the first movie. But a word to the wise the first live action was a badly done skript and the cosumes for the monsters were half beleveable.
