I've never even submitted a vid to a cona nd I've been makin them since 2000! I guess I lack alot of competitivness. If I had to compete with anyone, it'd be with myself to better my skills.

I'm sorry, but we don't live in a fairy tale world where everyone is good and equal and gets high ratings. Amvs are art and everyone knows that art is subject to criticism. You see people at the art museum criticising art all the time. It's no different here in the amv world.

This is reality. People have the right to give you bad scores for whatever reason they want. It's all about how you deal with it in the end. Sure, I've wanted to rip a few heads off in my day but now I just laugh it off. If there's anything people must fix whenever they whine about a bad opinion, it's their additude.

There are only 2 types of amv creators. Those who dew them and those who don't.

The faster you deal with the harsh reality of art, the faster you can move on to work on your next video. You won't become superman overnight, but just deal with it one bad star rating at a time.

But honestly, who gives a flying fuck what other people think? Make videos you enjoy, for your enjoyment.
@_@. About 50% of my vids have been above 3.5, and I have just been making since July last year. I guess I'm just gifted 8)

The more people who know you, the lower your star ratings get, generally. Strange thing about this rule though. My most popular vid (500 hits) has a 3.79 star rating, and the one next to it (420 hits) has like a 3.41 star rating.

I realize my vids are crap, and I still get high ratings for them. Just be nice to everyone, and do Final Fantasy.

Right on! I'm still waiting on mine though :(

About competitiveness though... I think theres nothing wrong with being competitive, but you should try to keep it fun no matter what happens. If you win, then great, you are happy. But if you don't win, then be happy for who did! You will still be having fun :) Moping around bitter that you didnt win something is never any fun.

Well, 3 of those years were before I knew the org existed and was just throwing together LBZ vids for fun

Yeah well, I've been making AMVs for eighteen minutes and already all 6,871 of my videos have an average of 90.112.

without competition, you get crappy crap. If AMD went out of buisness, you'd get crap from Intel for high prices, same goes for the other way around. Competition is what drives everything in this world, because to make money (or fame) you need to be better than the other guy, which makes the other guy want to be better than you, and the cycle continues, which ultimately benefits the buyer (or viewer in this case) with quality stuff that you otherwise likely would not have.
