SuckLoads

Post by Nekoboy Sal » Thu May 27, 2004 6:14 pm

Okay, This sucks! I had my download to 16 mins left. Them my modem conflicted with XP, like it does often. I know you can pick up on a download that you've started before. I've don it. I don't know how I did it, but I did. This is how I did it before.
I was downloading Euphoria, (56K modem XP @ about 3Kb/s). I had gotten 21 megs, crash. I restarted the computer. restared the downolad. Hey I have to start at 0 again! I restart downloading. 30 mines later a program stops responding so I hit Ctrl Alt Delet. Shock! There are two downloads going at the same time! Where? I can only see one off the desktop. The Task Manager says there are two downolads but only one appears on the desktop! I close the one I can see and presto! I'm back to where I had left off! Then when I had One minet left! Same thing happened. But this time after I restared the computer and restared the download, the download was all teh way up to 99%. WTH! After It finished It disapeared! WTH! Luckly I did manage to find it under the temporary files, but It didn't exist anywhere else on my compute.
What was that all aobut?

Try a different browser like FireFox. Might help.

Sounds like it tried to open it before you tried to download it. Sometimes the links here go straight to the video file itsself which is why alot of them say right click to download. Left clicking on the link will download the file into your temporary folder before sending it to your default player. This is also the only way to resume a download without using a special downloading program (not an ideal way though mind you). This is more than likely what happened, you may have accidentally left clicked the link.
It's cold and dark ... Perfect!

I did have to recall the file from the temprary file. It had vanished fromthe original place I downloaded to. But that does sound right.
Tanx!
