Shoujo's a lot more than just magical girl tho, right?

You got it. It's a lot more than that.

Its actually its own art style. Characterized by large or oval shaped eyes that are widely spaced. Soft physical features and pastel coloring. Frequent use of flower petals and softly drawn backgrounds. Usually but not always a great deal of long hair. Chobits is probably a good example of the art application.

Some Examples:
Chobits, Utena, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailormoon, Peach Girl, Pretty Sasami, Fruit Basket, and other such anime and mangas.

Typically it just means girl orientated anime or manga. Watch out if you're unfamiliar with it during a search. If you tack on 'ai' as in shoujo-ai it becomes girl to girl relationship anime. Don't confuse that for some kind of dirty thing, Tomoyo's cute more than friendly relationship to Sakura falls into Shoujo-ai.

I think what Nestorath69 may have been looking for is an anime more along the lines of what ADV Films produce. Don't get me wrong they produce well made anime with awesome storylines. But they also frequently produce anime notorious for fan service.

To be honest I am just new to a-m-v.org if you were referring to me.

I might have joined a few years ago by my internet connection and computer were to bad for it.

I actually remember some of the old 80's dubs of Dragonball.

Don't watch them they were horrid. They changed everyones names, like Goku to Zero and Bulma to Lina. Everyone sounded like a dog squeak toy too. I never caught too many, though, as they came on at like five in the morning on Sunday or something like that.

You might want to try Puni Puni Poemi. Its kind of along the lines of magical girl stuff, but on crack and with sexual jokes.

ADV is weird like that. They will release something like Di Gi Charat or Pretear (super girl cuteness).

Then turn around and make things like Najica Blitz Tactics (strong female leads with fan service galore) and Neon Genesis Evangelion (out there).

Crazy company. Were talking Hello Kitty to Noir.

Of course, a lot of guys are drawn to Shoujo anime because they often have a more solid character and relationship driven storyline than a lot of shounen or neutral anime out there. To use the earlier examples, Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura - They have great storylines, and if you like the transofrmation, magic girls tuff, it's even better.

I recently have been watching a show called Cosmopolitan Prayers, which is linked to another show called Smash Hit!... Both are interesting, and the ties between them are fun. They are heavier on the fanservice than most of the genre, and half the comedy is the corniness of Cosprayers. If you don't like mahou shojo, you might end up liking these two shows.

"Smash Hit!" is a show about a woman who has a smaller than average body for a grown person. She dreams of directing a detective show, but instead gets stuck with directing a magical girl "hero" show, which is called "Cosprayers".

"Cosprayers" is the show that she helped produce, and is about a team of magical girls who fight against chaos. It's corny and full of cheesy goodness and fanservice, but worth the watch, especially if you dig "Smash Hit!"

I honestly think there's a little of something for anyone in shoujo anime, even if it's not necessarally Mahou Shoujo.

I'm actually a fan of mahou shoujo series, for the most part (although it might have to do with the fact that I'm female, who knows). Though I do have to agree with you about Pretty Cure, I didn't care for that one at all. But some of the magical girl series out there (in particular Full Moon Wo Sagashite, Princess Tutu, Magic User's Club, and Happy World) are well worth a watch.

I'm actually a fan of mahou shoujo series, for the most part (although it might have to do with the fact that I'm female, who knows).

I dunno. I have a heavy metal friend that plays electric, listens to Godsmack and Metallica, who is a chick magnet, and the guy is a completely committed Sailormoon fan.

I guess storyline and character design have a lot to do with preference.

Very few shows can get away with a cheesy, horrible, or empty storyline in the world of anime.
