Mine is an ATI...not sure what model it is but perhaps someone can tell me:

1) It has 2 input hookups - cable(coax line) and composite(Yellow thing).
2) It also has a sound input hookup(for use with the cable hookup I guess).
3) No video out.

The drivers and software I have it running on now seem to be working, but the program has a selection for S-Video, which isn't one of the card's features. Also, it only gives really odd distorted resolutions for capture above 320X240 (400X240, 480X240, 560X240, 640X240, and 720X240). I'm afraid I may have the wrong drivers and software for it, which is why its always f*cking up on me.

Unless its me making it mess up, I highly reccomend anything but this capture card.

The older All In Wonder cards couldn't capture video with a vertical resolution of 480 very well, except when using Mpeg-2, but when attempting to use AVI, it'd drop about half the frames.

I'm using a 9800pro AIW card and it works great--especially for capturing footage straight from cable channels. Captures whats on the screen, really no quality loss if recording in AVI.

the card u mentoned b4 is the ATI TV Wonder VE

its a good card...but u need to hack it and use unofficial drivers if u want to capture anything higher than 240 lines under windows 2000 and XP
though under win ME and lower there are no probs with the software on the reso level for capture...so you can easily get that 640 * 480 reso

another good thing...it comes with a radio remote and its cheap^^

as for audio...the capture is MONO only...but tht doesnt usualy matter for capturing for AMVs

anothe last thing about it...unless u have a Nvidia or ATI card....dont get this card...there are...issues^^

also another thing...use the AVI YUV2 video capture format with all ATI...
there is absolutely no frame loss...but there u need drive space...

I've got a Canopus ADVC 100(which a couple other people in here also have). Since it's a DV bridge it just plain works when you plug it into a firewire port regardless of if you plug it into a PC or a Mac. It gives great video and audio quality(with the best aspect being the locked audio support so that you don't get A/V desync). I'd recommend it to anyone looking to do some video capturing and have 200-300 to spend.

I have a Win-TV PVR (Hardware MPG2 Encoder) but i never used it for AMVs, i have also a DV-Cam with Analog Video in, so capturing old VHS tapes etc. is no problem.

Yup. A little pricey, but completely trouble-free.
