I just got my new 2.6mhz comp :o I'm happy now.

do you edit on an overclocked Commodore64 or something? :p

i live in a small apartment with 2 roommates, neither of which can seem to keep quiet while i edit. and there's only one computer here right now that can actually play music or surf the net....MY computer. so i get bugged over and over to "check this site out" or "play this song dude" >< I pray my tax return comes in soon so i can move out ;_;

I do a lot of editing on a laptop, which pretty much means "where other people are not."

I find siblings really helpful: My bother is a casual AMV watcher (meaning he watches what I download) and he has been a AMAZING beta tester. He will actually watch me sometimes when I edit (I'm in "tweak" mode right now so I don't mind) and point out problem areas, ask questions and even make suggestions, a number of which came out really nicely. He'll probly start editing himself one of these days.

Only problem I have editing when I'm at home, where my 5 person family shares a computer, is people leaving things open and slowing everything down.

Yay! I feel connected. I do ALL of my editing on my poor laptop...but it's not that poor so hey. I run 1.87 mhz and and Athlon 2500 + It does fine, but the only problem I run into is memory u.u I only have 40 gigs. So eventually I will be seeking a good external hard drive. I already have my eyes on a few 120 gigs worth, so once I get the money that will definitly be priority.

For my conditions...my family is a complete annoyance. They are always talking about how I spend too much time on my computer and never hang out with them. Wahhh...who cares. I'm 18 now and I'm moving out with a friend, so no more of that. Another thing is my little brother...I love him, but he is one of those brothers that does stuff just to get under your skin. Such as run by my room and screaming as if to "scare" me in some manner - Uh huhhhh. The conditions I like would be quiet (other then my music that I'm playing for the video), alone, with a cup of coffee normally. (COFFEE FOR LIFE!) *is probably in control of half the total percent of coffee sales in the US*

Editing at my buddie's shouldn't be too bad cause we're pretty quiet people when we need to. It's a mutual agreement sort of thing.

currently, until my new pc makes its way here, my frustrations have to be the lack of any sort of speed on my pc, the lag of using a 500mhz p3 has kept me from editing for about 9 months now

oh well at least my athlon 2800+ will be here next week

I edit on a 733Mhz p3 all the time cuz I'm too poor to buy anything better.

Hmmm, distractions....well theres my little sister who kinda reminds me of Kaolla Su from Love Hina only fat and white....I'm gonna get beaten again I just know it. Though at least this time I probably deserve it.


My cat who thinks that sleeping on my right arm (Makes trying to use the mouse kinda interesting) with her butt in my face is something i'd want.


And last but not least is the fact that even though I live in the basement away from just about anything anybody would want, my room always seems to end up mimicing Grand Central Station.

i don't really get distracted even if my nephews are here at home cause i have my headphones blasting so i can't hear anything in the world. i work in the living room too since i have nowhere else to put my computer so you kind of get used to noise. the only sucky part was when i was editing and my sister was sleeping on the couch i had to stop early cause i was making too much noise. meh.

Occasionally I'll get a call to turn down my speakers/wear headphones, but aside from that I can edit in peace.

I always edit with head phones because the way I edit would drive people crazy. There’s a lot of: Play one second of song, move clip one frame, play the second of music again, move clip back… Plus the random bursts of noise that comes from jumping around on the timeline in Premiere.

The up side is she gives me useful feedback on my vids.

BTW just saw “Naota’s Lament.” Good stuff there, the song really brought out the dramatic/comedic contrast and the theme was excellent. Good beat synch too, but some interlacing issues.

Yeah, laptops are awesome for editing if they are fast enough. Mine is a 1.5 GHz which works well enough but it's always a pleasure to get back home and use the faster family comp. My laptop also only has a 20 gig HDD with only 6 free at any given time so I use bait and switch to save space. I hate how pricey external hard drives are compared to internal ones. I'll probably break down and get one eventually though.

I'm currently living in the basement, which has also become the room in which my dad watches TV, due to the 6.1 speakers, 4:3 HDTV, HD satellite receiver, and DVD player.

I refuse to edit anytime he is in the room.


(Just last night he was all like "So, your video was #1 on the star scale for last week, huh?" (in public). WTH? Get the hell off my back and leave me alone. I thought I made it more than clear that I didn't want you poking your nose into this hobby of mine. ARRRRRGH. Okay, I'm done now.)

I live alone in half a house, it costs me $350cdn a month, Oil, Electricity, TV Cable is included. It's fully furnished excluding the bedrooms but I had my own stuff for my room. There's a sex store and a convience store right across the street too. (They're in the same building no less. O.o) I have a hijacked cable modem, it happily connects into the TV cable line for free internet. Rent will be jumping to $400 for the next 3 months cause the land lord is putting in A/C for the summer, a deal I totally agree with.


Never agian in my life will I find such a sweet deal as this. When I finally leave this place, I know I'll never get such an insane bargan.

I'm editing with a 450mhz K6-2 processer, 210 sdram. And untill 3 day's ago, only 10gb's of space.

I had a new computer coming, but as luck would have it, it burnt up because of a defective part.

I can't afford anything else so I have to make due with this 0o.

Oh and I'm also half deaf.

My comp. kinda sux, my brother always bugs me and wants to play Warcraft, my sister always turns music loud, Premiere takes 2 mins just to open not to mention editing synths...yet again I manage to do a lot of work and do it properly. Even if I edited outside and it starts to rain I wouldn't get to excited and simply do what I first intended.
