First of all, what codec is the video encoded in? Premiere has known problems handling MPEG-4 (read: DivX/XviD/3ivX/etc.) video. If that's what it is, you'll probably want to convert to HuffYUV and try again.

its Xvid. I think the only reason its doing it is becasue its .AVi im converting to Mpeg, 2 i think. Maybe that will help

Well, Premiere handles MPEGs better than it handles XviD AVI, but you'll be losing quality unnecessarily from the extra compression. I still suggest taking the clips you need and converting them to HuffYUV AVI.

how would i go about converting to that? is it just another selection instead of mpeg? or do i need to download another program? and is there a way to just convert the selection i need? i dont want it taking to long to convert

VirtualDubMod is probably your best bet for making AVIs. In it, you can set in and out points such that you only take the clips you need.

And if you don't have the HuffYUV codec already, you'll need that too. It's included in the AMVapp; don't know where else to get it.
