I love that song! Wouldn't The Used fall under screamo also, but on a more mainstream level?

Yep. MxPx, Relient K, and Five Iron Frenzy also. Don't know of too many others, though. I prefer Christian Industrial though. There's a total of maybe four bands that steadily perform it (they didn't radically change styles from album to album), and three of them you'd probably never know they were a Christian band unless someone told you. I really go out of my way to find some bizarre music, lol.

Alright, now you have to spill.

The closest I can come up with for Christian industrial is that one Current 93 song.

It's Industrial rock/Metal for the most part. Mortal is the one definitive to bringing the Industrial sound to Christian music, but as far as I can tell, the most influential album they put out was their debut "Lusis", which is incredibly hard to find (I was able to get a hold of a used copy through Amazon). They are very influenced by Skinny Puppy and have the sort of subdued guitars that appear on Nine Inch Nails' "Pretty Hate Machine". They're the one band that is just marketed as Christian and their lyrics show it, like in the song "Enfleshed(The Word Is Alive)", a relatively big hit on Christian rock radio in 1991 or 1992.

Circle of Dust is credited as the one to introduce Industrial Metal with Christian themes, but they weren't expressly a Christian band, more like Creed in this sense. After Circle of Dust broke up, two side projects, Klank and Celldweller, formed. Celldweller is really just Klay Scott, while Klank is practically the rest of the band with a couple positions switched around. Both Klank and Celldweller focus heavily on the fusion with Metal, but Klank is more Metal and Celldweller is more electronic. Like Circle of Dust, both Klank and Celldweller are billed as 'spiritual', not necessarily outwardly Christian, even though they are classified under that term as well.

Celldweller's song "Switchback" is heard briefly in the newer Spiderman 2 trailer, just as Spidey swings between the semi and it's cargotrailer. Both of Klank's albums are available on iTunes, as is their cover of Van Halen's "I'll Wait". I haven't been able to get a hold of any of Circle of Dust's material except for two songs-"Goodbye", which is an original (and an excellent song); and "Am I In Sync?", a cover of a Steve Taylor song (also really good).

In addition to that, there are AMVs with songs by all four bands (but slightly more for Celldweller and Klank), although most of them aren't downloadable (and mostly Dragonball Z). There aren't many, to say the least.

I actually found one of Klank's albums at a new & used store awhile back. Blind is a great song, but yeah, I don't really seem them as a 'Christian' band, even in the Creed/denial sense. I'll have to look out for those other three though. Time to balance out all my satanic albums.

Equation

Metal + Christian = Matter + Antimatter

I’m not saying Metal can’t make a song about the philosophical Christian concept. Knockin' on Heaven's Door was awesome.

But Metal will typically do one of three things: make war on god/group thinking/programmed behavior; question gods existence; or as many famous songs do, lament the loss of a friend.

Sorry but anything that goes to the Dove Awards isn't metal. Especially Creed.

They are more like Soft Christian Rock. All rising action with no climax to the music. You listen waiting for it to get cool and then you here.....the DJ.

I hope people in this forum don't classify music based on MTV, VH1, or chain music stores. (I mean who the hell puts Nirvana in the same boat as Brittany Spears. Nirvana was grunge/alternative not pop. Lumping Pop/Rock together is just plain distasteful.)

Besides classifying a band is like doing a circle drawing. You take all their songs draw overlapping circles around different types of songs. A good band should not fall strictly in one area or they risk sounding monotonous.

I use Nirvana as my example due to their extremely varied songs. Here is an example; their song Dumb doesn’t sound anything like Smells Like Teen Spirit.

If thats really what you think, then there's a lot of stuff out there you're not aware of. There's a shitload of christian metal bands. It's a whole genere. .. white metal. =P .. And if you think metal is limited to those 3 concepts, put away your angst and check out some REAL bands.
