Video Codecs and Trimmer help.

Alright, I read the guide section, but didn't stuble across what I was looking for. I am searching for some codecs that were linked to me in a forums site but now that site doesnt exist.

It took me about 4 months to recover all the Video Files and Music files that I once had and lost because of a stupid computer Virus. Now after the computer format, and recovery, I am wishing to continue making AMV's.

Here is the situation.

1- I am using Vegas 4.0 for creating AMV's, only problem is that it won't let me open my AVI files in it.

2- I need a new trimmer, I remember the one on Vegas wasn't that great so I used Virtual Dub and something else.

3- I am pretty sure it is in the Guide Section on a Double-Pass Xvid Compression Method, If I am correct please let me know. Since I failed to remember where it is.

4- I have this great idea and am just waiting to slap it down on video for you all to enjoy. Any help will be great. Thank you for your time and help.!
