Heya Vlad, I thought the name looked familiar when I got off of Anime-Alberta.org.

I got a question for you regarding submissions, actually a few.

1. Define Beta codec, depending on your point of view most of the XviD codecs would count as betas. I'm using the 1.0.0 final codec that was released around the 16th, is it going to be supported?

2. Banners, I usually just have some text overlaying the beginning and ending of my videos, title of the video, and studio name at the beginning. Title of anime/music and a "Thank you for viewing" bit at the end. Is it preferred to have this all stripped away?

3. And the important question, do you think there is gonna be enough floor space to accomidate people better this year? <Note I am not complaining here, its merely an observation> I didn't watch the vids cause it was so crowded, but I want to see peoples reaction to my vid. Honestly thats the main reason i'm entering mine, my editing has improved alot in the past few months, but I ain't gonna be walking away with any hardware either.

4. "Animethon reserves the right to use any entry for display and promotional purposes. All videos entered will be considered to be cleared for this purpose by the entrants filling out and signing the entry form."

You make this sound like a bad thing, more like PLEASE show mine. :D
as I say, I just wanna get some reactions.

Oh, and to add to a poll you guys were running, i'd pay for admission to Animethon, But not more than say 20 or 30 for a 2 day pass. And you'd still have to keep the food donations thing going, its a worthy cause. Maybe donate and get a discount off admission, as long as people don't start bringing in 1 bag of noodles or something cheap. Last year I needed help hauling my donations in.

Technically that is suppose to be the non-beta version so that is fine.

Titles and Banners are fine at the end, but they will be stipped at the beginning. All videos will have then all stripped for judging (so judging is blind) so I would suggest having a version with titles not overlaying the video or else it will have cuts... I usually have two version, one for cons and one with full credits for my AMVs

This year we have a main events room that hold 370! (3x bigger than last years room) The contest will be held in there and will probably have a second showing as well

All it means is that we can show what you send in at any time during the event and future events.... Nothing more... It's basically saying that you are agreeing to have your video shown

The event is free, but this year for a $5.00 or more donation you get into the dealers room in the morning to early afternoon as well as first to seat at the events in the Main events room. For the AMV contest, I will have like last year a area reserved for contestants and one friend...

Alrighty, my vid is almost good to go. Thanks for all the information, this will be my first competition so it'll be a bit of a learning experience for me. I almost wish I had entered last year, even though I was using VHS rips. <Shudder>

All I really gotta worry about now is the fps, I have it set for 24, but as I recall you want either 29.97 or 23.97. :( Hopefully it will convert down ok.

Thanks again for the clarification.

Heya Vlad, I was just wondering, what is your role in this anyways? Are you just coordinating? or are you judging as well? Just wondering cause I don't want anyone looking at this thread and crying foul.

Oh, on a side note I got the fps set back at 29.97 (We will not discuss the headaches that occurred as a result) :?

So the vid is now running 720x480, 29.97fps, XviD 1.0.0Final, uncompressed audio, and .avi (I didn't have anything to convert it to mpeg), nearly 200MB file size

Does any of that sound like it gonna cause playback issues on your system? I'd hate to have my first contest end with my video being unplayable, that would just....suck.

Oh I pulled all but the ending credits which don't show till after the song has ended, so from what I understand that should be ok.

There are five judges for the Catagory awards and Overall Judge's best, and no I'm not a judge since I coordinate and run the contest. There is also an Audiance Best Overall determined by ballots at the event...
