little question,
if a creator releases a video submitted to a convention before the convention, is it worth watching beforehand, or does that 'spoil' the experience of watching it for the first time at the con?

My general rule when it comes to AMV's is this (using examples from last year's Otakon): I usually avoid downloading finalists videos until after the convention unless one of the following happens:
1. I can't wait to watch the video (i.e. Stop the Rock and Who Let the 'Fros Out?)
2. I downloaded it without any knowledge of it being entered at the convention (i.e. The Two Shall Meet)
3. I saw it at another convention
4. In the case of Katsucon and sometimes Anime USA, I downloaded the video either for fun or because it was popular at a "big three" con (I consider the "big three" to be AX, Otakon, and AWA).

If I knew a certain video was going to be shown at a con, I'd probably wait. Contests are more enjoyable for me if the videos being shown are mostly ones I haven't seen. But it's not so important to me that I'll go out of my way to find out which vids have been entered in order to avoid seeing them beforehand.

I wouldn't knowingly watch vids before a convention they had been submitted to, because my best AMV watching experience is when it's both my first time seeing the video, and it's high quality on a big screen (the first time I saw an AMV, it was at the Fanime '03 finalist showing).
So no Fanime '04 AMVs for me 'till... a week from tomorrow.
