i took a 35 meg video from the local downloads and made a rar file from it which was only 24 megs. would it be a good thing to make rar files from the videos in the local downloads to save storage space and bandwidth?

This has been discussed before. The thing is, a well compressed video will yield minimal results with a generic file comression alg.

there are some vids of 5 megs with same runtime, approximately 3 1/2 minutes, as vids with filesize of 50 megs and more. why are some so much larger?
