I wouldn't recommend using screencap software for videocaps. I don't know about Winamp but most Videoplayers have integrated screencap functions.

If it is a good prog it should work, but you have to activate something like "capture overlay".

If the file is anything other than rm and qt, you can get screencaps with VirtualDub - open the video (with an avisynth script if the file is wmv) and select the frame you want, then click 'save image sequence'. If you have a good picture program, you can save a tga file (very good quality) and compress it elsewhere - if you just have windows paint, then save it as a bmp file. Either way, it's a very accurate way to take a pic of any frame in a video without having to pause. If you don't have Vdub, check out www.doom9.org - it's a free downloadable program.

BSPlayer has a screencap feature built in. Otherwise, Ari's Vitrualdub method is probably best.

Just for completing that problem with screencaps... The "black window" usually appears when running the player with "hardware acceleration" enabled.
This option can be turned off - just search for it in the options of the player (at least Windows Media Player and Real Player have this).
After doing this, the player should still run as smoothly as before ;)
