screen cap question
i'm a noob at screen caps and i was just wonderin how to do it...
i have like screen caping programs and i do wot they say in the manual but it dosn't work!! i use winamp 5 as ma video viewer and then i do the screen cap stuff, all that comes up on like the previews is just the black background of the video screen. am i doin somthin rong or do i have the rong programs?

If the file is anything other than rm and qt, you can get screencaps with VirtualDub - open the video (with an avisynth script if the file is wmv) and select the frame you want, then click 'save image sequence'. If you have a good picture program, you can save a tga file (very good quality) and compress it elsewhere - if you just have windows paint, then save it as a bmp file. Either way, it's a very accurate way to take a pic of any frame in a video without having to pause. If you don't have Vdub, check out www.doom9.org - it's a free downloadable program.

Just for completing that problem with screencaps... The "black window" usually appears when running the player with "hardware acceleration" enabled.
This option can be turned off - just search for it in the options of the player (at least Windows Media Player and Real Player have this).
After doing this, the player should still run as smoothly as before
