The Japanese girl name Yuri is where this genre of Anime gets its name from.

It was a weird trend, but most of the first lesbian-ish chars in Anime and Manga had names like Yuri or Yuriko. So, when it became its own genre, they named it after that. ^_^

Anyway, the rendering in this pic is really nice. And I haven't looked through the rest of the links, (and I can't even find it) but one of my favorite pic is one of Utena and Anthy, sort of holding hands, with Utena sort of hugging Anthy from behind. It's not really yuri, it's just one of the pics I like.
