Intimidated or Inspired?

Post by rubyeye » Tue May 18, 2004 12:33 am

Watching amvs for years now...seeing them progress technically and artistically...do you ever feel intimidated by what you see, or inspired to make (surpass with) your own video?

Personally, I don't really feel intimidated or have a need to surpass; I just enjoy watching them (and occasionally trying to figure out how some of the FX were done).

Perhaps part of the reason is that I've never felt the need to be all cutting-edge or AMG TEH INNOVATIVE (though I do try to be original as far as concepts go).

Both.

Intimidation can be a good thing especially if you feel that you've done everything and then see something better.

Inspiration for the obvious reasons. :)

Both indeed. Healthy competition combined with some good ideas gets a lot done though.

i love computers and what one can do with them

inspired. i refuse to let a lack of knowlage on how to use a computer program to intimdate me from learning to use it. if anything i consider it a challange.
the satisfaction of overcomming the challange (learning to become proficiant in a computer program, whatever it may be) is no small thing for me. and if nothing else i am a persistant bastard. now matter how long it takes, i WILL complete my goals.
Even if the voices in my head aren't real, they have some Damn good ideas, you're just jealous because they only talk to me.

I intimidate myself when it comes to the point of .."ok this is a great Idea. now..... how am I going to pull it off?"

as for other videos. They keep me in check, to see how im doing, see whats overused, and also other examples of good idea/bad idea are noticed. but of course, My competitive side is always going heh I can come up with something crazier.

so Im going to asusme its a mix of the two.

I only feel intimidated when I see an AMV that uses 3d effects. But I set goals for myself to keep me motivated to continue making AMVS. I want to top some artiest in this community. ( Of course I make AMV for my self, but I love to compete ) Considering I did fair with my first AMV, I continue to look for inspiration.
