Northeastern area of the United states, Canada...Europe?
This is a pretty good list right here. This guy goes to the cons and takes pics you can see off the site. I think you can order them at the cons sometimes too.

Hey! I read your post about Con's in the northeastern area. (duh) I live in Chicago and there will be a con here, BUUUUUT it's until August 13-15. If you wanna wait that long then it's cool.
There's a catch though
In order to get in you have to pay $25 O_o and if you really wanna go, if you pay before June 30 then you only pay $20(not much of a discount but oh well). Well, I don't have much room but if you're really interested then go to www.wizarduniverse.com for more info ^_~

Otakon?
If you're looking for a good Con in Northeastern U.S.A., Otakon has a good rep. Its the largest on the east coast here and the second largest in the country (might actually be the largest for now, but I'm sure once the next anime expo con in California opens its doors it'll over take Otakon again). Its held in Baltimore, MD at the Baltimore Convention Center, it should be from July 29 to the 31st this year. One warning though, since it is large, there will be a lots of cosplayers there, so I don't know how your friend's mask-phobia might hold up, but most cosplayers don't need masks for their costumes anyway, and cosplaying is probably an issue no matter what con you go to. I don't know any sites with good info. off the top of my head so if anyone else does feel free to post them, I'll see if I can go find one later tonight or tomorrow.
