Part 1: These days, quite honestly I only really watch two types of AMVs- a) those that I see while at a convention (normally in the contest) and b) videos that were either made by one of my friends or someone whose opinion I trust tells me, "Hey, this video is really good! Check it out!". I very rarely anymore just browse through videos and watch them randomly, or go searching for a particular type.

On the rare occasion that I do randomly grab a video, I don't usually worry too much about whether I've seen the anime before. Truth told, two of my current more favorite series I first saw in an AMV and then searched out because they looked interesting and like something I'd enjoy (AzuDaioh & Super GALS!). Also, if I see a video to a song/artist I particularly like or a series I'm very fond of, I'll be far more likely to check it out because I know I like at least one element of the video. And, in reality, I do sometimes think it would be neat to have a 'Give me a random video' button on the Members page to click and take you to a random video. Every so often randomness is good.

Part 2: Whatever they want to watch. My best suggestion for newbies is to go to a few conventions and watch the videos there. If you want to see far more videos than you ever probably wanted to, go to AWA (and to a slightly lesser extent, ACen now) where there is a room dedicated to AMVs and AMV-related stuff. But, convention contests tend to have a good mix of content in several hours the generally introduces you to a number of different genre and styles of videos.

So you're just here because you love us so very, very much? >_> <_<

Thanks for the recommendations, all - I'd recommend some, but I don't know anything about the genres people have mentioned. :P

Hm.... Videos so incredibly cliché that they are rarely done anymore....

You know, that could be fun!

Sorry about this.

I am going to break this post up into parts.

Just remember you asked before I answered.

At last a use for my collection of AMVs. Oddly most not from a-m-v.org but most that made it into this list are I think. I lost track.

The links should open a new window so you can read and download at the same time.

For those you can leave opinions for, please do. These people deserve it.

(I prefer to watch a video a few times before submitting an opinion myself. I just like to make sure I don’t miss something or fail to see detail that isn’t obvious at first.)

The Dragonball Arena links should take you to the specific section where you can scroll down to easily find the right video.

I spent some time going through AMVs for this post.

I hope it helps.

Part One

The videos tend to be listed top to bottom, best to pretty good. This isn’t always the case as I wrote them as they came to mind or in order to which I found them on my CDs.

(My own videos are NOT on this list. One they don’t really fit. Two I want this list taken seriously and not as some publicity plea.)

Part One:

I rarely watch AMVs to techno. I have seen a few good ones, but I just don't like synthetic sound for the most part.

I don't avoid anime I don't like because sometimes it makes nice videos. Like Gundam Wing. I love the designs, but hate how the story develops. That matters little when an editor chooses the parts you enjoy.
