Saddest Anime Moment ***SPOILERS***
I thought of this topic just a minute ago when I walked from my comp back into my room to see the saddest ep of Cowboy Bebop...with the guy who decides to commit crime to cure his sister's blindness. It's just sooo sad! When he gets shot through the chest and he drops the plant and it withers away right in front of his eyes is one of the saddest moments ever...

You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

Episode 9 of Saikano where a certain someone dies is by far the saddest scene I have ever watched in anime. I watched Grave of the Fireflies right afterwards and I felt nothing (well I felt something but nowhere as much as I probally would have had I not watched Saikano.) That is how much it desensitized me. First time I nearly shed a tear watching anime.

Had this of been me a year ago, I would have said
Now, I'm thinking:
- The scene where Kenshin leaves Kaoru
- The BEST part of Slayers when Gourry and Lina kiss (ok, it's not sad, but it's emotionally gripping)
- The end of the second CCS movie
and I'm also thinking that these are not really SAD. Ok, let's just say episode 25 of Fruits Basket. THAT was really emotionally gripping
...especially the last 5 minutes with Tohru, Ou, and Hana.
I cried SO much. But I'm sick of fushigi yuugi...and I probably didn't need to to use spoiler tags...I'm assuming that most of you know the classics.when Nuriko died in Ep. 40 (??)

One of the saddest ones I've mentioned is in this thread:

Also in Voices of a Distant Star,

Also in Voices of a Distant Star,
the whole fact that Mikako will never meet up with Noboru was pretty depressing.

Haruka is the one who does that, not takayukiIcyCloud wrote:Another one would have to be in Kimi Gi Nozomu Eien, whenSpoiler wrote:Haruka first gets hit by the car, and also when Takayuki tells Haruka that he's leaving her.
and I laughed when what happens to Haruka happens. Laughing about how tragic it was.
Another one just off the top of my head is when Goku sacrifices himself to get rid of Cell and then when he says goodbye.
Soujiro's story (episode 55) I believe, the music and everything was great. (Kenshin)
