Member Search Issues

I really don't want to be mean, rude, or obnoxious or anything like that here. I just want to state my opinion and see if anyone agrees with me.

Both my and my sister make AMV's and put them up here on a-m-v.org. We've both been told by many people that our videos are good and to continue. We put all our AMV's up for download at the same time.

The thing I want to point out here is that when downloading music videos, the order in which music videos come up is in Member descending order. This means that everyone with a symbol in front of their Username or pretty much all the A's to M's get the majority of the dowloads, while people down at the bottom like me, TakefujiYami-sama, get hardly any downloads at all. To put this in perspective, my sister, *inverse*, has at least a thousand downloads for all her AMV's, while I haven't gotten over 100 on any.

Now, that could all just be because Inverse makes WAAAY better music videos than I do. I mean, watching hers and then one of mine . . . its clear which of us is the better AMV maker. So I am in NO WAY saying that my videos just don't get downloaded because I'm at the bottom of the results.

Inverse is soooo freaking popular, its scary. Just thought I'd add that.

So I was just thinking, why not change the order of results into something different, instead of Member? I'm sure that there are a LOT of AMV-makers out there with Usernames in the bottom of the alphabet that don't get credit for their hardwork just because people don't look all the way through the results to the end. It isn't fair to a lot of talented, possibly proffesional video editors out there.

I'm just thinking. This doesn't have to be taken seriously, I am just stating my opinion.

And I'm complaining too, I guess

There are options for changing the order the search results appear. But I see your point, many people might not notice that you can change the order. Maybe we should switch the default order of search results to something else, like premiered date.

Yeah, pretty much what I was getting at. Most people when searching, including me ^_^; , hardly ever notice the order in which they appear. I try to click a different one when I remember to, like to the premeire date and such. I personally think it would be better for a lot of AMV makers to just change the order. I think it would make a lot of people happier, including me

You can't change the order.

Then I wouldn't get the first two pages all to myself in the general 'romance' searches for my favorite anime.

Just change your name to **AA-TakefujiYami-sama and you can be right up there with them. ;p

Wow, didn't think this would get too many replies . . .

And if we were able to change names, don't you think I would have done it by now? There isn't a way to change your username, unless you email one of the administrators (forgot the name, but in FAQ I was told to email someone about it) and ask them too. Bad thing is, administrators are so busy that changing someones username because they don't get any downloads, is pretty small issue compared to site management and all.

Maybe I'll go try again.
