Um.......help? [How to rip from DVDs?]

Man I can't wait for that day. It should be a great expierience. But I mean - c'mon...dvd ripping. That was the simplest part in the guide I read. Except for maybe something like: "Open the file". And then someone reccomends a costy program for it...and it's completely free! What in the hell is wrong with the world today?

If you would look back on page 1, you'll see that Janzki has already answered your question. And to restate the answer, NO, ripping footage from a DVD will still allow the DVD to play.

Ripping doesn't mean it is taking the files off the disc.

You see, the dvd's are right protected (obviously); so in order to get the video files, you need a program like SmartRipper to decode them and then copy them somewhere on your harddrive.

That, and it's impossible to digitally delete something burned on to a disc. Unless you physically snap it in half or light it on fire. Then it is corrupt.
