But we'll never know what really happend. :x
What NME said is 100% true. Take it from a guy who attended the con and who hasn't bothered with the org in a long time. That's when you know NME isn't lying.

It's fine to disagree with CArnesen's request.

However, I don't think broken sentences, improper grammar and syntax, and puerile insults will get the point across.
Seconded.

I missed the contest so I am not going to get between NME and CArnesen on this one. I will point out that there is a (very) long review of Sakura-Con vids on the mailing list and there is no mention of exhibition problems.

I'm not surprised that CArnesen is upset. And I've been here long enough that I'm not surprised to see NME off on a rant. I am disappointed that at least some of NME's comments have remained in sight and un-mod'ed. This whole thread might have been avoided except for that oversight - if that's what it was.

I'm not going to dignify those comments with re-quotes; the subject thread is still there for all to see (page 2). I suppose I can quote this, however:

animemusicvideos.org will not ban members because of other members hurt pride.

I'm sorry, but despite the agressiveness of NME's comment it is his right to complain about what he perceived to be a substandard job on the technical side of the contest. If the SakuraCon administration cannot accept criticism and learn from it then that is not a problem worthy of the concern of the moderators and admins of this site.

Asking for a ban for this is frankly ludicrous. A warning for offensiveness perhaps but any "personal attacks" made were on people's ability to do their job and this is a criticism that any "professional" should be willing to take.

I would like to interject on NMEs behalf her because NME is wackable and this carnasen guy is not. Also this dosent sound half as bad as the morons at Katsucon this year who hadn't figured any of their panelist would need a Vcr.

Being offended once in a while is a small price to pay for the freedom of speach. If you run the contest again, just remember his comments in case he submits something next year.
This is a painlessly short sig.

I have to agree with Aboslute Destiny on this one.... The outcry for banning someone outright on the org for the issue at hand is ludicrous.

I know some of the things may of sounded harsh that NME said and it is not by far the best or the most diplomatic or best way of presenting the issues.

I'm also pretty sure that Chris did the best job he could and there was no intention from his side to have any problems. But we are all human and things do happen. I'm a bit suprised though about how harsh Chris' public post is (Issues so delicate as Chris does belive they are, should be discussed in private IMO).

As an AMV contest organzier myself, even the best intentions will get some times get harsh critisms from someone. For example, last year in one of the contests I ran, someone got very mad and rather "verbaly" upset over the fact that DiviX was not listed as a submission codec and thus blaimed that on not getting into the contest :?

Now as a creator myself, I also realize that contestants do spent a lot of work on thier creations and thus issues that effect thier work being shown may cuase fustration and venting from thier end....

In a perfect world, it would be great if contestants and organizers got along all the time and understood issues and problems that arise. But this wil not be the case at all times and in the end no matter how unfair it may seem, I still think it's up to the Organizer to be as diplomatic about such issues as possible in public since it reflects on the contrst and organization a lot more....
