????????????

I can't find anything on my end. I actually just used the FTP last night from an remote SSH connection through a Solaris machine across campus, so, along with being able to log into it through a browser on my computer, and tranfer files up from my roommate's Windows laptop, I haven't been able to reproduce any connection problems.

Are you just trying one specific file, or are you having trouble connecting to the site in general? I might have missed a permissions setting on something, which could explain a file's failure to download even though the site appears to be up and running.
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.

Are you accepting any more creators for this project?

Hmm, well, fancy that - after retrying a couple of times I got in. I'm downloading Pen-Pen's latest version right now, hopefully it'll be fine....
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I think 'yes' is the only answer to this question I've heard so far

I'd say we still have plenty of room.
Especially since I seem to have a case of block again, and probably will for the next little while

Thanks for the oppertunity. And if you accept me then I'd like to do "The Diva Dance" from the movie fifth element.

In that case, contact rose4emily, and he'll give you the FTP address for our project. I wouldn't worry about skill - effort is the real issue here

Pen-Pen - finally got to look at your complete version the first time. I'll definitely have more to say about it once I see it a few more times, but I gotta agree though... that 20 seconds just really makes the whole vid stand out.

I think some parts towards the ending would also benefit from some timing tweaks just like the beginning. Other than that, it's a pretty complete video story-wise. I'd say the strongest part is basically the mid-to-later part - from just before that glass door scene to the flashback. The other parts are obviously neccesary to the story though, and they work very well in terms of mood sync.

I'd say it's mostly done. Just some fine-tuning here and there. I'll pinpoint more things there once I see it again a few times.

Wow, it seems like a lot of people are having computer/footage problems. Somebody doesn’t like us… *looks around suspiciously and prints hard copy of Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides* Good luck everyone and hang in there!

Otohiko - yeah the beginning is slow but it does help with the buildup. As for the ending I think I have to much footage of the old piano because after that it feels incredibly rushed and I still have some things that I want to put in, hmmm overlays.... It defiantly is getting there but I want to make sure that the sections all flow together well and the editing is as polished as I can possibly make it.

In other news, “What do you mean you don’t have the footage?!?” Man that sucks, That video was going to totally kick ass. Can’t you just rent them or something? (/forgetting that not everyone lives near dedicated anime stores) I was really looking forward to it to….

Songbird - Welcome to the project, there's a link to the FTP on page 22 where you can upload or download songs, betas, and other miscellaneous project related things. There's quite a bit of feedback and communication as you can probably tell from the length of this thread. Feel free to upload whatever your working on.

The Diva song would be a good addition, we need something more lighthearted with all the dark pieces we have (not that I'm complaining, I love dark AMV's :)) It's also a very genre crossing blend of old and new. A couple of questions: Would you be using the whole thing? Would this be a remake of your sailor moon version or something new? A little bit of tweaking with an equalizer made the drums not quite so dominant in the latter part in my experience, you might want to play around with that. If you are doing the whole thing I’m curios as to what you plan to use and how you envision it. Don’t worry about the words, someone already brought up opera and we were all in favor of it (plus it’s a good song.)

As for some of your earlier questions, I have seen Naruto and I actually really like the series, by “endless battles” I was just referring to the exam arc which was intriguing because of the interesting matchups and abilities but didn’t have that “root for the underdog” excitement.

I watched a number of your videos, I really liked dead life even though I didn’t know what was going on, but then again I am predisposed towards dark anime. The story is clear enough I guess, but where it shines in the mood of the piece; the song is just haunting (and those dragons are really cool.)

The Remedy one was good too. The lyric synch was a bit obvious at times and the video jumped all over the place without any one theme. It has some genuine laugh out loud moments though, and it works great as a feel good AMV.

Yea, that's the problem - I can't even rent it.

I'm sure I'll come across it eventually. It's just too bad it had to be now that I turned out not to have it

It will be made, just when I actually get the footage... which will probably be well after the project is finished, but oh well...

But I'm toying around with something more light now, though I probably won't start actually working on anything for a couple of weeks. My song of interest is one of my favorite instrumentals ever, Frank Zappa's "Peaches en Regalia" which is best classified as fusion-jazz. The main problem right now is that I'm not happy with the version I have, on the CD 'Strictly Commercial'. I'm trying to find a version where Zappa actually plays guitar, with J.-L. Ponty on violin, with a whole brass band + percussion backing them (at least I'm very sure it exists). If I find it, I'll see if any good comes out of that.

I wish I could just easily pick up songs and work with them like that. But no... it always has to be something I already know well and have established some sort of connection to... *sigh*

Ermm. I can't find it. Please help this shtoopid person.

Coolies.
pen-pen2002 wrote:Would you be using the whole thing?
Heck no. I made that mistake once already. I'm going to start it at the "watery ::bloop:: sounds" just before the creshendo in the music.
pen-pen2002 wrote:Would this be a remake of your sailor moon version or something new?
Something new. I don't wanna just remake something I've already done. I do have a question for everyone (Those who know the song anyway) though. Should I make it more like a dance vid or should I make it set to battle sequences like they did on 5th Element?

I kinda like the hard beats actually. But I'll go with the majority. What do u guys think?

Ara? What dragons? Thank you for the compliment though. :)\/

Kinda had to be obvious with that one. The quick changes in the themes of the lyrics don't leave much room for artistic interpretation. And of course the video jumps around. It's a various silly. ^_~

Thanks. :D

Hey. Could someone post links to all the parts that are posted so far? I'd like to see them. The betas too. :)
