If you can I highly recommend reading the manga. You'll find that the anime series is behind by alot. From this part on, in the anime, it's going to be about Takumi in Project D and their main rivals Todou Racing School.
i've never tried the manga out, it just never occured to me that a racing series could be as good in manga form as it is in anime form

the whole concept seems like it'd be a lot more enjoyable and believable with the motion you get from animating it. So do you think the manga does the series justice? or should i stick to anime
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

Well I saw the anime before I read the manga and personally, I read the manga cause it is way farther than what is out. As for the whole experience thing, I think the artist has done a good job of capturing the emotion of the race. Heh what you should do is stick in a eurobeat/ initialD cd while you're reading it and it'll almost feel like you're watching it.

If you can't read japanese read this part ^_^
There is a caveat to the tokyopop versions of the manga. There was a big stink when Tokyopop first announced what they were planning to do to the series. They wanted to americanize it more, more than just the silly name changes. I personally haven't read any of tokyopop's releases so I can't say what extent they changed it. I just read the JP ones. What I recommend is to go to a BNN/Borders/etc.. and sit and read it at the store and see if you like it.

nah i think that the anime is much better because u don't get the build up of excitment during the races and drifting and stuff. the manga kinda ruins it...well because u can't exactly show drifting on paper unless u copy straight from the frames used in the anime. PLUS the music has to be with the actions so yeh..it makes it more exciting...well thats my view. btw how far has intial d 4th stage got up to. i've down loaded about 2 eps and i want to c more. and is the rumor about bunta joining the project d team also true?

From what I heard, the producers planned to do 2 episodes PER month.
