Oh and for the slow down I ment that after I made my video I opened it, I made a new project file and imported just my video added it to the time line and changed its speed to 90% to give it a deeper tone. I also have it in %150 which is awesome maybe I'll release that seperately lol.

Two new video versions:

Anubsx00's first beta!

Third Stone from the Sun (or perhaps 13'37") v2.0!!!!

I'm excited. Can you tell?

There's a few things left to do with it (remaster the color part, go over some places in the greyscale version where I seem to have missed a few frames on the remastering process or colorizing Mamimi's hair or eyes, clean up a couple of corrupted frames from Cinelerra's output), but some major updates here. The timing is fixed (new encoding process - which is an adventure, to say the least, but seems to produce much better results), and the parts that I have remastered are by far the best-looking recompressed fansub-sourced footage I have ever seen - nice and crisp.

The plan is to have some speech between the segments in the final movie. These will be written by the makers of the video, edited by myself and anyone else who actually enjoys playing around with sound and structure of the English language, read by someone who has yet to be selected, and somehow combined with a video or simple animation involving a 'screen' onto which the videos can be compositied to give a transition back and forth between the 'real world' and the 'anime world' within the film. The finer points of that part haven't exactly been worked out yet, other than the fact that it is at least theoretically possible to do all of this. Worst case: we make some pretty title panes with text narration if Plan A fails to materialize.

dwp, what export settings do you use in WMM?

I know that it's most likely a tad too late, but have you tried exporting at "Video For Local Playback 2.0 mbps"? It looks really good... compared to the other 2.0 mbps. If you made a file like that I could import it into Premiere Pro (since it accepts WMV) and export a huff and run it through vdub...

But I guess the problem has already been solved, yes? :?

i used the export to dv-avi, which by some miracle didn't mess up, aside from the desynchronization with the audio (which i then fixed by speeding up the audio and reediting the video).

the one i uploaded on the org is 1.5 Mbps. I looked at the 2.1 Mbps one, but it didn't make much of a difference.

Unfortunately, it seems Murphey paid me a visit and threw some shit into the fan today - my hard drive (which already had one fatal partition table corruption so bad that Windows and serveral versions of Linux refused to be installed) decided to once again put me in my place. Consequently I spent the day scrambling to salvage as much data as I could, re-install Fedora, finish my CS project, and re-install all my apps.

Good news - that FTP server I set up for this project just saved my ass data-wise, as it was still running along with limited rescue-disk-based command-line functionality, giving me the power to get most of my school work, media collections, and project data off of my computer and onto my roommates so I could reformat. More good news, Linux is back up.

Bad news, it'll probably take until the end of the weekend to restore all my apps (including the FTP), and some of the project files were corrupted in the crash. I lost the PNG and HuffYUV versions of my video, leaving only the compressed versions (which fortunately are very clean in the parts where I've polished them, and can still be polished in the rest once I have CinePaint back up). When I do get the FTP back up, everyone should check their folders to see if something important is missing. Old versions aren't that big a loss, having been replaced, but it'd be nice to know whether I got all of the new ones off successfully. I do think I got all of the music off successfully, but didn't have a list, so once again am not really sure.

I do wonder if anyone got Anubsx00's or my video off of the server before the whole thing went down. There were a few hours of availability wedged in there.

DWP - 640MiB Huffman, not bad. Mine was 2.1 Gigs before I lost it.

And I still have a guide to write for the Linux-based video editing folk. Already asked AbsoluteDestiny about it, so I should probably get to work - starting with the installation guides that I conveniently get to walk myself back through.

Fun.

Wow! That sucks that your harddrives went nuts. I've had a friend have that happen to him, he lost everything. The main problem is he didn't make any backups of any kind. I periodically make backups of my crucial files on CD and DVD to make sure I'll have something left if my HD goes on the fritz. Don't worry too much about my beta video, it isn't very good. I wouldn't be surprised if I completely redo those 30 seconds anyway. Well good luck on getting your computer up and running again, may the force be with you :D

Yea, good luck getting it back up. So long as the data's safe though, at least that's a relief.

As for me, I haven't gotten very far along in finding what it is that I want to/should do next
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Ok I have an important question... What codec should I use for my final video? I was thinking divx5.1.1 three pass encoding but I'm not sure. Any help would be great thanks.
