downloading rules
dumb question... i have like only 3 seconds of this one vid i made that came from a website. you can tell because the border is wider and theres a big GF sign in the lower right hand corner. it's about the only other AMV i made that i think is good enough to share (i've made at least 10). can i upload it if i give the site credit?

Technically you can put it up without asking the mods or Phade here...
1. Because it only states in the rules that you can't use footage from here (I think from only here).
If the footage is just from scene to scene without any special effects I'd think it would be ok to use it...but if not I'd contact the creator of said vid and ask permission (not that you need to because technically they have no copyright whatsoever but its just polite to do that)

Hey,
Downloaded footage should not be used no matter where it came from. However, it that is the only place on the planet where the footage can be obtained (meaning it's not available on DVD, VHS, laser disc, etc. anywhere in the world), then that is permissible. If the footage is available elsewhere, you should get it from there for higher quality. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm kinda tired of low-quality videos.

Try not to. I realize it's hard sometimes.
I just turned down a first-class video project for lack of footage - and I could've used downloaded! I just chose not to... hard choice
I guess the point would be - if you want to make a first-class video, don't use second-rate footage

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
