I could see a system for deleting all 10's scores being reasonable, but a 9.5+ is just screwed up.
If that's what happens, you can say goodbye to about 500 each of Koop and AD :P

Sorry to revive a 2-week dead post, but I just became aware of this 'deletion' feature.

I've been patiently waiting for the promised method to replace my uploaded video with a higher quality remastered version, and I want to know if this is that method. Judging by the remarks here, it may be, but I want to make sure that the deletion feature will in fact remove the Local Download video from the server and leave the info/opinions intact.

I'd appreciate it if someone would confirm this for me, since I'm understandably hesitant to hit the Delete Video button without knowing exactly what it's for. I don't really want to accidently purge my Star Score.

Thanks!

Hey,

You are correct. Once a deletion request has been given, it will be reviewed by a server admin. If the request is just to replace the existing video file, all other information, including star ratings, will remain.

This has actually caused some confusion when a video file has been deleted due to upload rule violation, the star ratings remain even though the video is not available locally.

I hope this helps.

also just making sure

if you want the ENTIRE video entry to be deleted, download/vid info/stars/ops/entire existance of video, can you just ask for it all to be gone?

i'm specifically asking for the case of re-masters, if we have a video up for local, but then we accidently create a NEW entry for the remaster and we UPLOAD the remaster into the new video entry, then can we delete the ENTIRE old entry and just keep the remaster?

this would follow along with the 'one-entry-per-video' rule

Hey,

The point of the catalog is to list every AMV that was ever released to the public. If a video was released to the public either by entering into a convention contest or made availabe for public download, the video entry should remain in the catalog.

Remasters should be uploaded to the original video spot since the video is exactly the same as the original, frame-for-frame, except for better visual quality (ex., DVD source instead of VHS source). For remasters, simply request for the file to be deleted so that the new one can be uploaded.

If the video is modified (scenes changed), the video is then technically a completely different video since it is not the same as the original. These videos are generally called "remixes". Remixes should have their own indepenant video entry into the catalog since they are technically a different video.

It is difficult to "accidentily" create a video entry and upload a video. ;-) Eventually there will be a "merge" function. This will mainly be used by collaborators who put a video entry into each of their video listings before the collaborators system was developed.

I hope this helps. ^_^

Well... now that we're on this subject, I sent a deletion request a few months ago to delete a LOCAL video link to upload a remastered version (which still hasn't been addressed); but I accidentally clicked the submit button twice; so it says it is being requested twice...

...What's going to happen now? :?

Is this a good place to whine about my delete request still waiting for so long <_< >_>

...but only of the people you like, huh? Or was tying in the message board accounts with the main site accounts just an unfortunate oversite on your part?
