rose can you delete the very small file from my folder? It was just a failed upload conserning wav vs. mp3 I think we should go with mp3 wav files are just too huge it could double the size of the file.

Well, after some thinking and experimenting, I think I'll go with Bebop after all.
And while I was at it... I dropped a small item of curiosity to the inbox, demonstrating just how much time I can waste on being fancy (this 5 seconds took 2.5 hours to make - photoshoppin+animating+effects)

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Ooshna: The little file is gone.
Otohiko: Are you trying to show up AbsoluteDestiny in the non-polygon effects department, or just showing off in general? Really, though, that's a pretty slick five seconds.
Wait - what am I talking about? I'm busy hand editing each frame of my video to remove all the compression artifacts and paint in individual objects with some splashes of color. Not nearly as creative or flashy, but definately in the same place where time and patience are concerned. Anyone know how long it takes to make Mamimi's eyes and/or hair a light violet for several minutes of film when she keeps insisting on moving her head?
I definately don't think .wav should be used to distribute the project, I was just thinking that it might be better for the purpose of assembling the project, to help ensure consistant synchronization and reduce recompression noise.

I'm just trying things... I have a few interesting ideas for about a minute in the mid-section of the song where I sort of want to go off on a tangent and use overlays and other odd media, and then I think I'll try to stick to more normal editing.
The effects are very basic actually. Now getting spike to hold a guitar properly - that's a bit of a challenge
I'm trying to make maybe 3 or 4 sequences like this, and use each a couple of times on the solo section.
***
Now, as for .wav - well, I haven't noticed much difference to be honest, but if you want, it's fairly simple. As far as I noticed though, my videos don't suffer much from being in 160kbps Lame mp3. (if the perfect sound rating on the Wasteland so far is any indication...)

Duh, upload to the inbox, my bad. I'm kind of stupid sometimes sorry bout that Rose. However, I did upload the song now and it should be there. Tell me what you think, it is choral in nature so I think its fine.
Thanks to the guides I'm editing using AVS, retaining DVD quality, and editing fast using the bait and switch method. (yes I'm that bold
) Hopefully I won't run into issues using the bait and switch method though. I have extra steps in using AVS with Vegas for editing so that might cause problems, but none so far. I saw that the guides said if the clips are slowed down too much or have too many effects that AVS might crash. Whats up with that? Oh yeah, painting the compression artifacts, HOLY crap thats too much work for me!!
Hopefully I'll get working this week on my project and have some early betas out next week. I'm so lazy, it annoys me sometimes. Cheers ^_^

Wow!
Once again I'm going to talk about Wasteland's video quality. Now I've been working with AVS and direct VOB quality, but the quality, mainly the sharpness and brightness is no where near what I see in Otohiko's video. How did you get that quality? I have the MANGA video DVD of EoE, is there like a higher quality DVD somewhere? Or did you use cell frames/stills? Its driving me crazy!!!
For comparison's sake I'll show you 2 images.
This top one is a direct still from my DVD and the bottom is a direct still from The Wasteland music video. (Why is mine so fuzzy and dark???!!!)

The quality difference is immense!

How did you get such quality? Should I even care about trying to get higher quality? I guess I'm trying to be a perfectionist. I should stop ranting now ^_^

Mmm... well, I can give you one simple explaination. My less economically-challenged friend got himself this:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=KIBA-1009
I asked him to rip them for me (seeing how I don't have a drive that plays R2 discs), and he did. That's about all that happened. In actuality, the preparation and compression on that was rather lazy, and out of Revival-based vids, this may well be the worst-looking one
Are those DVD's out in R1 yet by the way? I'm.. out of the loop on this, really.
And no, the pics still don't work.
Here's a funky one I worked with today though

If you mean Death/rebirth and EOE, yes they are. I do not know of their quality though. I saw them on old VHS. Just saw them in blockbuister on DVD so I know they are available.Otohiko wrote:

anubis: are you doing any kindof filtering? like smartsmoother or Msmooth or any of the time based smoothers, they both increase Visual qualitry and reduce file size by a large amount, giving you more bits ber file size on your encodes. Check the guides under the "exporting your video for distribution" part where it says advanced filtering. (I think) In the AD&E's guide to all things video and audio.
Does wonders on mediocre DVD quality footage.

Oh yes, almost forgot, I definately agree on submitting our *FINAL* versions of our videos to be included into the project with audio in .WAV format. reencodes of encodes in mp3s tend to get anoying from the high pitched mp3 artifact noise that sometimes appear when this is done. (I am a stickler for audio and visual quality though, so some may not notice it as readily as I would...)
