I have a general understanding of AVS now and got it working with Vegas!
Now I have excellent DVD IVTC quality Eva clips. Still not sure how I put it back to 29.97 fps when I'm done, or do I not want to do that? Any help here would be nice.

Insert clever text/image here.

Well, I edit all my vids in 24 and export them to 24; I really don't know myself, and for all practical purposes - I consider it a much better solution.
Since noone brought up any problems about both my project videos being in 24, I say you keep working with it. It's probably gonna save us a bunch of space to have the project released at this frame rate, anyway.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I like 29:9 FPS, anyway
I decided that, I will attempt Ai Yori Aoshi with Nothing Else
Matters... If that dosnt work... The song maybe to dark use and
with my current source footage...
My current Progess is like (5%)
Reading orignal lyrics for the piece then listening
to the other verison over and over agian
(Currently exporting Convention Verison Off Kino's Snapshots)

I've finally managed to get the whole PNG-sequence video editing thing to work - and it looks like I've got my video sync back, at least for editing (it's frustrating that it didn't work with the .avi clips, especially where there were so many small things I had spent time on syncing in the timeline that were completely lost in the encode). As to whether I'll be able to keep that sync on the final .avi encode, or perhaps have someone with a different editor compile all those .png files back together, I'm not sure.
Still haven't fixed the web page. Or rather I have written an updated version, but have yet to upload it (tried once, server timed out on login, thought I might try again later).
Frame rates: 24 (or 23.976 or however it really works out) or 29 should both be okay, I think. I've done a couple of project with different frame-rate source files and haven't had any real problems with it, and know that some editing programs - particularly the WMM - are probably a bit less flexible than we'd like them to be with their output. 24 fps seems to be more popular in a lot of compressed-format files (less data per second than a 29 fps), so Otohiko's probably right about it being a better solution in terms of consistency.

High action vids I like to do in 29fps, because 24 sometimes is a bit too jerky.
24 does give you better quality to size compersion though. Based on my past experience, Converting the final file from 29 to 24 is a bad idea if you have alot of single frame edits in it. Angel's Redemption does not convert to 24 very well, alot of the strobe effects and other single frame effects are put out of wack because it dropped one frame in the wrong place or something to that effect. If you want to be able to go both ways, better to edit in 24, then output to 24 or 29 depending on the need. (I know alot of cons say to export to 29 for their submisions)

New WIP! Now up to the 4 minute 30 second mark and the rest of the song goes by really quickly so I'm close to a full length beta. If you liked the WIP that was up before, this one is much better. Most of the parts between the SOS and the part with the big window I really don't care for.
I'm actually suprised that the video is getting any good reactions as I feel that it's turning out rather mediocre. The timing suck for a lot of it and I'm having trouble figuring out what to synch things to. I've got some new motivation though thanks to Bakadashi's advice.
As far as framerate goes I'm not sure if 24 FPS is smaller since after youve edited you have so many frames and it's simply a matter of playing them back. You can change framerate without changing filesize.

well its not necciserily smaller, but its better quality, because its less frames per second of video. AD and E's guides point this out aswell. So using this scale it would be smaller for the same quality output. to clear things up in that regard.pen-pen2002 wrote:

No, I think a number of editors are working or planning on more than one submission. With the small number of editors we have it seems likely that at least one will have more than one video included. Speaking of which I think that Otohiko already has two that in all likelihood going to be in the final compilation.
A few comments on my WIP(currently in the finished videos section): Sorry about the filesize, I ran out of HDD space so I had to do the Xvid compression straight from premiere
. I'm especially interested in feedback on how the different sections fit together and the flow of the video as a whole. All that's left is a tense building section that will follow the other character into madness followed by about a minute of mind numbing action a la "phantom of the opera" where I burn through all my heretofore carefully conserved footage
. The end is in sight.
So many new editors!
I'm really looking forward to having new WIP's to critique now that I don't have Ararat to nitpick anymore
.
I don't know what the status of that is since we haven't heard from him since he claimed the video back on page 5 or 6.Bakadeshi wrote:I'm downloading Battle for tesaiga now.
