They can still do lots of things. The point isn't to stop them, it's to keep it from happening IN the chat.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

yeah the AIM room would still exist as long as someone makes it, when I forst started the chat was a lot different than now, people would not be ridiculed and told to go away for asking questions like they do now. I believe that Phade (I am not 100% certain on this though) did intend for the Chat Room to be an online live chat resource for help and socializing, it has since I first joined in 2001 become just a massive spam fest where newbies and people asking questions are shunned and treated like they dont belong

After reading this thread I'm glad I never got bored enoguh to install AIM just for the chatroom. A chatroom that doesn't require me installing the software of choice for desperately random cybersexers would be nice though.

The chat room is fun as long as you don't act like a dick right off the bat. If you join and start screaming "OMG HOW DO I RIP DVD FOOTAGE, HOW DO I MAKE AMVS?" then yes, most of us are going to tell you to shut up and read the RATFAG. No one likes answering obvious questions.

I, myself, have indeed gotten editing help in the chat room. The problem is the intellegence level of most of the chatters is about the same as a retarded walrus.

And lets not forget the IM blasters.

I got ridiculed in the chatroom because there were too many b's in my name. I also believe there was several blatant sexual comments being passed around.
Anyway, I'm all for irc over aim chatrooms.

I'd want to see phpMyChat in action. Just that the current system is seriously flawed.

Anyone who gets bored in the AIM chat can just go and spam bright yellow letters for five and a half hours straight.
