Getting rid of subtitles

Post by Kanraku » Tue Mar 16, 2004 12:56 am

Hey, I'm starting to lay out the storyboard for my first AMV, but I've come across a dillema regarding subtitles in my source.

I don't think there's any way to take them out, since they're not OGG's or anything, so I think I have two options- Crop the bottom out, or put some kind of black rectangley thing at the bottom to blank them out. (neither of which I'm entirely sure how to do.)

But, what do you experienced AMV veterans think this the best course of action in this situation?

The best way would be to simply edit around the subtitles, so that you don't have to remove them in the first place. The second-best alternative would be cropping, IMO. But this guide has some additional suggestions.

Cropping. Put it in 16:9 so it still looks like a standard aspect ratio.

If you need a free tool that can do this:

Windows: VirtualDub

Linux: Cinelerra

what did I tell you about necroposting you blithering idiot?
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Eh - same 1 day/1 month mistake myself, need to read a bit more carefully. But hey - why not encourage people to read old threads by kicking them back up once in a while rather than having them make a bunch of new ones about the same stupid crap. You could always tell everyone to check Google and RTFM as a solution for everything - which it generally is - but I think some people just aren't that bright or that patient.
