RahXephon

yeah most people have haerd about this. alot of eva fanboys shouted EVA RIPPOFF. yes, so it did ripp off some scenes directly from evangelion (rather badly at that) but overall it had enough to stand on its own. sadly, while ok, i found it to be nothing special. it just didnt have that emotional impact that evangelion, grave of the fireflies, cowboy bebop and other anime have had on me. i mean, this is the sort of thing that they should put on saturday morning cartoons. its an interesting story with some fancy animation. sadly its very broken in parts. esspecialy early on. the main character (forgot his name, actualy i forgot all their names, their too japish anyway) seems to be an arogant barstard that doesnt realy give much shit. then he turns into an eternal optimist. things like that just ruin it. i could mention other instances but seeing as i cant remember any of the characters names, i would sound wierd. meh, overall it was worth watching (if only as something that id never re-watch) but i just wasnt satisfied.

oh and, i havent seen the last two eppisodes yet, so be careful with spoilers :P (hmmm, please ? :D )

ok #1 you are an idiot....

how can you even start to tell other people your opinion of this anime when you didnt even watch it well enough to remember a single characters name. I dont believe anyone can watch 22 episodes of an anime and actually not remember a single name. Did you even listen to what the people were saying? obviosuly not cause if you did you would realize that this series is alot better than you describe it. RahXephon did have a few scenes that reminded you of Eva. so what. It has its own story line and a very unique array of characters. You obviously didnt give this anime a chance since you labeled it an EVA-Spin off from the start. Go back and watch it

I've watched assloads of anime without remembering ANYONE'S name. In fact, Rah Xephon is one of them.

This is why I always worry about people's attention spans....

But eh, come on, A-ya-to. 3 syllables. Is that really too hard to remember for something you spend a dozen hours watching?

What makes RahXephon different is the fact it's not as confusing as Eva. Heck, there's not many religious references or abstract interpretations. You should definetely finish up the series before you even make that conclusion.

Just sort of off topic, one of the people of my dorm concludes that RahXephon is "Evangelion, the Musical".

not at all, Rahxephon has a very deep plot and story line. I kinda made me mad to hear someone bash it who didnt even watch it closely enough to remember the mian characters name. Especially when they have a bias against it from the start.

firstly, im a bum, what do ya expect from me , a smart ass ?

oh and, i sat my ass down and watched the epps 19-24 just a few hours ago. actualy i also saw epps 16-18 today also. and if i cant remember the characters names then well, iether their too japish or the anime wasnt interesting enough. or mabey both. rahxephon didnt "have a few scenes that reminded you of Eva" , it had a few scenes that we're totoaly and blatantly ripped of from eva. and thats something very serios. esspecialy seeing as they we're badly ripped off. (if your gona copy someone, at least put some effort into it so people arent so disgusted at the ripp off). and yes, rahxephon did have a cast of very unique and different characters. though non of them felt in any way realistic, which is integral for a drama. the characters personality seemed to make stupid changes to suite the story, and theirfor alot of it just felt stupid. also the characters didnt have much depth to them. they we're very predictable, well, untill they did something totoaly NOT in their personality. and no, i didnt label it an eva spinn-off from the start. i went into it expecting something truely different and amazing, mainly because i hate fabboys, like the ones condeming rahxephon and wanted to show myself how wrong they we're. well, wheather they we're wrong or not, i was disapointed.

I happen to think bum has a very valid point. I myself liked RahXephon but yes, it was extremely similar to Evangelion at almost every point in its story arc. I mean shit, they even had a dolem that made things disappear into the ground. 11th angel from Evangelion, anyone? Ayato comes from a single-parent family, and his mother is very cold and aloof. Shinji Ikari, maybe? Towards the very end of it, ok, it steered off the course of an evangelion rip-off, but it still was a rip-off at one point in its existence.
