Since you're always saying you want some more modern music that's actually good, check out Impossible Recording Machine.
Some of there stuff is available (free and legal) here. I recommend Absentia - it's been in my playlist for months now and I still crank it.

Sweet, thanks!
Sexcellent stuff. I like this 'world-music' influenced percussion stuff; but it's interesting how they seem to use it in the environment of more conventional western sequences and vocals that kind of have that pop feel... but not lyrics.
Eh! And you said there's nothing comparable to Sylvian. Well, this is way the hell different, but I'd say they use vocals and layers upon layers of texture is close enough.
Funky shameless electronic stuff on The Bells, too.
I approve 8)

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

hey, I have a friend that suggested that to me.
Also, Placebo(sp?), Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco, and there were more that I can't remember. He really liked indie music, I think this might have been motivated by the fact that he was in a band. Though, I haven't heard from him in awhile, so I don't know the status of his band.
The Big O will KILL you!
