grave of the fireflys
i just watched that movie for the first time yesterday(been wanting to watch it for awhile). damn that anime/story is hardcore. havnt seen an anime that made my emotions move like that before. maybe because my little girl is about the same age as the girl in the anime. plus i moved away from my little girl to start college that might have had a small part in it. or what but that story just hit me deep. everyone on here probably has seen it a hundred times but i just thought i should bring it up. i know of a lot of movies that deliviered deep emotions but not an anime so i though i would just spit this out here

A great movie, I think you have to be in the right mood to see it though to trully appreciate the story... the only complaint I have is not really the movies fault but is limited by the fact that a movie can only be so long and so unlike a series which can really flesh out characters the movie didn't flesh out all the characters as I would have liked it to.
I recommend this movie, but be warned that even though it is a Studio Ghibli movie it was done by Tohru (I think that's his name) not Myazaki (spelling?) so its a different style of movie--so just because you like Myazaki films won't mean you'll like this... that said it is worthy of the Studio Ghibli name so don't just not see it because Myazaki wasn't directing.

Lets see how far we get before the anti-american war propoganda bombshell gets dropped.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I watched that movie before I was really into anime. My initial thought was "Damn! This cartoon sucks! I'm all depressed!"
But now that I think about it, it really was a "life's not fair" kind of story...it was really tragic...maybe I should stop thinking about it. It's depressing me again.
Definitely had an emotional impact on me.
