I'm insulted that you guys'd suggest this live action movie might improve upon Evangelion's ending (or anything, for that matter.) Two good endings aren't enough for you?
Anyway, the topic about taking stories and such - the difference, it would seem based on some examples, between Japan's stealing of stories and the United States's, is that in Japan ideas for stories are taken and reused, whereas in the US a popular story is taken and adapted. You can choose for yourself which is worse, but as far as I'm concerned it's much worse to take something that exists, use it's name to make money, and do a poor adaption that tarnishes the previous object. Stealing an idea and using it in your own story isn't too bad, it's not like ideas are new anyway.
As for Live action Evangelion... (if it's made) if it's 1/8th as good as I hope it will be I'll be very pleased. If it's 1/8th as bad as I expect it to be, atleast I won't be dissapointed because I expected it to be that bad. Most likely it would lie somewhere in the middle, at a relatively enjoyable level, or atleast I hope so.

 You're right, endings that express the main point of the series, tie up important loose ends, and are powerful aswell, endings like that suck. I promise you that whatever you could come up with would be horrid in comparison to the brilliance of Evangelion's endings. Part of what Evangelion was, was different. Having a conventional shitty ending would have hurt what the series was. Plus, being the psychadelic beast that Evangelion is, the end of the world was the ONLY fitting way to stage the series's completion.Tidus_F_F_X wrote:WOAH MAN!!! O...k... u just keep hittin that bong. The ending did NOT tie up lose ends, it left many questions unanswered, and ending the world was shit, we should hav had sumthing diff, but then again, every1 is entitled to an oppinion. And so, in MY oppinion (and as many others think), the ending left somthing to be desired, but if u like it, more power to ya.

The endings were brilliant in my opinion.
The series ending lacked of visual strenght, since GAINAX was running out of money and time, but the emotions were absolutely breathtaking. I watched the series a lot of times and the last two episodes give me goosebumps over and over again. (Not only them of course)
EoE was the visual perfection of the franchise with pretty much the same emotional effect.
