I'd offer to buy VHD off you, but chances are it'd prob. be easier to sell to a shop

I'm in the final stages of liquidating a 10-year collection of (mostly) anime tapes. My experiences:

* Nobody wants tapes anymore. This is not 100% true, but it's becoming more so every day. Half Price Books - where I sold all of mine - was willing to give about 50 cents each. It varies from store to store.

* I couldn't even give the tapes away to friends with kids who were into anime. It was like, "Let me borrow them to copy to a DVD, then you can have them back." Digisubs and P2P were other reasons to avoid owning tapes.

* E-Bay wasn't worth the trouble. Take a look at the prices people are offering over there, when they're offering at all. Factor in the hassle of dealing with PayPal, personal checks, packing and mailing...it's not worth it.

* E-Bay may be good for very rare items, however. If you have a copy of Robot Carnival, you'd probably get a good price. But sell it before the R1 DVD is released (!).

* DVDs will get you a little more, but not much. Half Price Books was giving me about one dollar per DVD - which they would re-sell at $7.49.

* The AWA phpBB page has a trading forum you might want to look at. Can't say it will be much help, though.

Now that I think about it, you could always do what I did with my tapes when I switched over to DVD- I donated them to a local anime club. ^^ I just popped in one Sunday and offered them to the club (I had checked them out to see if they had a library, and if so, what it was missing, and it was missing lots of classic happy stuff like Ah! Megumi-Sama and Tenchi, so bam! There they go!), and they were like "Cool."
blah blah blah.

I'd be happy if someone paid me 50 cents per DBZ tape I have and I got quite a few...

Hmm. I do kind of like the idea of donating them, since I can understand tapes being not worth much these days - but anime clubs apparently would rather literally kill themselves than touch a dub tape. So, that's out, or at least the dubbed ones are out. That is a cool idea, though. (And the movie isn't that bad. ;) I quite like it. But again, it's the dub on tape. I bought it on impulse the first time I saw it in a store - bad move.)

Animenation accepts DVDs, but I've had problems ordering online from some sites, so that's a maybe - but it's a good suggestion, thanks. :)

'Course, I wouldn't solicit here; I'd probably ask around my own webspace and such.

Thanks for the suggestions, all! I may just have to pack it all up and see what I can get for it at a store, even if it isn't very much.
