Isn't that the point?

There is a big difference between helping someone and teaching someone. A tutor's job is to do the latter. Essentially a tutors job is to make himself not needed as his pupil learns how to solve his own problems. I think people would just ask lots of questions to solve their problem without knowing why they are doing what they are doing and why it works. Your not really helping people if you just solve their problems without them understanding anything. They will forever need you to help them. These "tutors" will get tired of that real quick and not want to help anymore. Thus the system breaks down until there are no more tutors.

I suppose the way to fix that is to have the tutors include some helpful explanation along with their answers. Which the good ones, who know what they [sic] doing, would probably have thought to do anyway.

this idea of 'tutoring' has very good intentions, but that's how a lot of disasters start

but i think we should try it anyways
afterall, this 'tutor' section wouldn't actually require any kind of funding from anyone i hope, the section would be hosted by this site and the people involved would contact each other under whatever circumstances they choose

so can this project really fail?

the only way it could fail i think is what people have been saying about 'mis-use' and 'unqualified participants'

both the students AND the teachers can be mis-users, the student could try to mis-use the system by just doing a 'give me an answer' type question, but likewise the teacher could mis-use the system by giving 'here is your answer' type responses

but doesn't everything has it's risks and it's extremes?

and then the only other problem i see so far is the 'unqualified particpants' both students could be willingly to not learn and teachers could end up being either impatient or just plain misinformed themselves

A question though? would there be a person or group of people that are in charge of the tutor's assignments to their student? or would there simply be a list of tutors available and then potential students would wander in and choose their teacher(s)? :?

in the end, as long as people that apply to be tutors are willing to help and people that apply to be students are willing to learn, it should do just fine

also, the tutors should state their fields of expertese (sp?) and available software to teach with

I could use the help- I'm a minimal user of Adobe Premiere- haven't yet unlocked its full potential.

I just got a copy of Adobe After Effects 6 Pro... That cost me $720 dollars, and I don't know how to use it. I'm totally mystified. Stymied.

Bestbuy. Tax is a bitch. it was like $719 and change. Online price from Adobe is $699 plus shipping and handling, so It really doesn't matter. :?
