My take...
I use WMM2. I don't seem to be having problems with it. In fact I'm quickly getting used to it, while invoking some other past experiences and inherent qualities so that I may make my videos. Yes, I do have a "limited budget" and can't quite afford an uber-program (heck, one of my close colleagues didn't get Adobe Premiere until another friend's dad up and GAVE it to him). The only flaw WMM2 does seem to have is that it tends to be a memory-hog and I can't run anything else alongside with it (I have an eMachines, so I can't exactly go and "upgrade my rig"). But as long as I have a decent enough ripper and my vast collection of music to help with my source material, I'm fine.
Now the way I see it is this...
Why make a big deal of "Ford vs. Chevy" or "Honda vs. Toyota" about it? It's, like...a car's a car, right? As long as you can drive it, you know how to handle it, it doesn't give you problems, it runs right, and it gets you from Point A to Point B, that should be just fine whether you drive a Jaguar or a Hyundai.
Granted, there are people out there who just..."don't know how to drive".
But for those who do, why should it matter what the car is? And why should it matter to others what kind of car some person drives?
The point to the metaphor...we all use what we use. And there are those of us who use whatever version of WMM we have. So whether we use WMM, Adobe Premiere, or even Crazy Bob Takahashi's Hack-n-Slash Home Movie Editing Kit*, it shouldn't matter what we use as long as we use it correctly. And if it seems we're not doing so well, all we can do is practice til we get it right.
I think I go sleep now.
*I was just messing around, by the way. There isn't a Crazy Bob Takahashi's Hack-n-Slash Home Movie Editing Kit. ^_~

well the main reason that WMM gets a bad rep is becuase a lot newbs use it cuase it's cheap, and easy to use. also bad compression practices. so it's an assumption that all WMM videos suck. now if every newb used premiere... i'm sure some people would say all avi videos suck. but what it really comes down to, isn't the program or the video format, it's the creator.

again with the 'wmm? must be in wmv format ' conversion is not restricted to premiere usersPwolf wrote:well the main reason that WMM gets a bad rep is becuase a lot newbs use it cuase it's cheap, and easy to use. also bad compression practices. so it's an assumption that all WMM videos suck. now if every newb used premiere... i'm sure some people would say all avi videos suck. but what it really comes down to, isn't the program or the video format, it's the creator.

which is the kinda point i was trying to get across... it doesn't matter what program you use cuase the best video ever made can be made in WMM and no one would ever know unless the creator told themArigatomyna wrote:again with the 'wmm? must be in wmv format ' conversion is not restricted to premiere usersPwolf wrote:well the main reason that WMM gets a bad rep is becuase a lot newbs use it cuase it's cheap, and easy to use. also bad compression practices. so it's an assumption that all WMM videos suck. now if every newb used premiere... i'm sure some people would say all avi videos suck. but what it really comes down to, isn't the program or the video format, it's the creator.

Silly folks...
I started making amv's by using Virtual Dub and tmpg 0o..
I made http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=16867
With stolen clips (cuts myself) and VD with tmpg. It sucks sure, but it was a good starting point to relize what ineffect a good amv is and what one isnt.
You can use premiere or wmm to make fantastic videos doesnt matter. I mean sure premiere can give you a few jump aheads but just look at Arigitomyna for instance, She makes some fantastic videos with WMM (better than most adobe users by far).
So yeah, by some points premiere can help (I love it, I use it) but it also depends on your imagination.
I think AD mentioned it once, but I too would like to see a contest where they can only use Tmpg and VD.

I really hope this wasn't meant to imply that everyone who uses expensive software is "elitist" and/or makes said assumption about conversion...Arigatomyna wrote:no - i was agreeing with you - they're silly to assume conversion is only for themPwolf wrote:i hope you arn't calling me that...Arigatomyna wrote:silly elitists; conversion's for everyone ;p
