Local download issue
I have one major issue with this website--for local downloads, you are never given an HTML link to the file. This causes problems for people whose browsers are set up to play certain files in a video player, from cache, and then delete the files. I understand why you have the 10-second delay and whatnot, but why not, instead of reloading to the URL of the video file, reloading to a page that contains the link? It is very troublesome to, every time I want to download an AMV, attempt with one browser, and then realize my error, have to wait 60 seconds, and then open it in a different browser that isn't set up to play such video files.

Or do what me and farlo do and don't have any default players for anything except MOV. I do realize that I just basically copied what he said, but meh...el_farlo wrote:ive actually came across this problem also, only time ive seen it is with wmv files though, just set up windows mediaplayer to not stream video from the internet(works for me, since the only video i steam is MOV files(trailers)
WMV streams every once in a while, but that's cause WMP is a piece of shit and should be banned from computers forever. Go BS Player!

Because I usually want to stream it. This isn't something that I should have to change my set-up to fix. It's not a user error, it is a web-design error. I'm not the only one who's had this problem, and I'm not the only one who will--and there will probably be people with this problem who don't know how to get around it.Zarxrax wrote:Why not set up your browser to download that file type instead of play it?
I'm not posting this because I don't like the inconvenience; I've already clearly stated I have a workaround. I'm posting this because I feel this is a web design error that could affect a lot of people.

Well I dunno, but all my files on other sites still stream perfectly fine... and I have an option to download them here...UrbalT wrote:Because I usually want to stream it. Again, the main issue is not my difficulty downloading the files--I can already do that if I need to.UrbalT wrote:I'm not posting this because I don't like the inconvenience; I've already clearly stated I have a workaround. You're taken to a page that, after 10 seconds, reloads to the URL of the video file. Some people can only save the video file if they are given a hypertext link to the file--which you are never given (at least, not on the first try--see note). I was proposing reloading to a page that contained a link to the video file, if you really need to keep the 10-second delay.Zarxrax wrote:I don't really understand what you are saying about a link to the video file either... it takes you to a page that has a link to the video...
Note: apparently, if you've already downloaded that file, you are given instead a page with a link on it. That may be what you're referring to.
