I imagine not having an edit button is useful in certain curcumstances. In addition to making people think about what they post it prevents people from unmodding a modded post. Being a forum admin kind of makes you think from a different perspective...

So you lock a post to the poster after the mods have at it.

You can lock individual posts? I've never seen an option for this. At least not in phpBB2.

I personally think it would be nice to allow edits either for a set amount of time after a post has been made, or until a post is made after your post.
But regardless it's Phade's decision. Seeing as he's made his decision and not allowed an edit button for some years now, despite constant bitching, I doubt more bitching about the need for one would ever get him to change his mind.

This calls for a feature request. Or, at least, someone to hack it in.

I know, add the edit button, but make it point to a page saying

SHOULD HAVE USED THE PREVIEW BUTTON FIRST, NUMB NUTS!

maybe that will get the messege across.

He can't.
He can only control whether or not you are allowed to edit within certain parts of the forum.
Or at least, that's all I can do as an admin. Maybe I haven't explored the admin panel enough.

Phade.
Actually, I just type and navigate really fast. I had made another post in another forum, (which could have been avoided by allowing me to edit my original post) and headed over here to ask for edit buttons. And I got that stupid flood control message. I'm not an idiot, I know that has nothing to do with edit buttons.

Reguarding edit buttons, AD, Phade: It has nothing to do with the preview button for the reason I'm asking. I had made a post, and 45 seconds later I remembered something else that I wanted to add to my first post. But, I had to not only make a double post, but wait an ADDITIONAL 45 seconds to make said post. It's quite a long time to have to wait on the internet you know. =P .. I'm sorry, I don't type stuff in this box, let it sit for a minuite or more scratching my chin and thinking "hmm. is there anything else I want to add?" I type, I submit, I move on.
