Is it a radio stereo? How does your stereo know what to play?

Since it obviously doesn't have anyway for your pc to connect and send data to, you won't be able to use it for that purpose, unless you manually weld the right wires together.

A solution would be to get a stereo with an audio in.

its a radio/5disk changer/tape deck. i know i could get one with audio in i was wondering if there is somekinda box that i can get to connect my comp (1/8 inch) connecter and my stereo speakers (a black wire and a red wire) and then it will do it. i could always solder them togeather but i dont think i will. coz im afraid of breaking it

do you speakers come with their own cord connectors or is it attached to your stereo?

Bloody hell!! Lyrs you're going about this all wrong!!

Madmag: to connect your PC sound to your TV/Stereo, you basically have to find if your TV has Stereo audio inputs on it. If it does, check if it has Stereo audio OUT on it (mine does :P ). if it doesnt, step 2: check if your stereo has audio inputs on it (it'll be called AUX or VIDEO on the mode selector, and you should have 1 red and 1 white RCA connectors on the back.

Now, if your TV has Audio-out on the back (will be a red and a white cable also), connect the PC-audio to the audio-in, and run the audio-out to the audio-in on your stereo. This way you'll have audio thru both your TV and Stereo. Otherwise, just run the PC-audio cable into the stereo directly. This will give you sound thru your stereo only.

No prob. When I've got my ideal setup running, I have my PC running through my TV/Stereo, my DVD Player running thru my TV/Stereo, my TV connected to my PCs capture card via the TV-out port on my TV... its all hooked up, lol.

This is close to what you need: Y-adapter, Radio Shack.

The red plug is for your right speaker, the white for your left. Each of these two plugs is a standard RCA connector that has two wires leading to it. The wire connected to the center post is the one that goes to the '+' on the speaker. The wire connected to the metal cylinder surrounding the post goes to the '-' on the speaker.

You can cut the two plugs off and bare the wire, but do it carefully so you know which wire goes to the post and which goes to the cylinder.

Or...you can buy a couple of matching jacks and attach wires to those. One end of the wire goes to the speakers, and the jack just connects with the plug on the Y-adapter.

One more thing: don't expect too much volume if you drive standard speakers with a PC sound card.

I beat you to the punch, dude. lol... can't underestimate the sheer power of complete and total genius. Oh, did I mention that right now I'm drunk and my gf is kissing other blokes? Hey, I might wake up tomorrow in a puddle of my own blood!! Red is one of my fave colours, so I wont be disappointed. Considering theres about 5 - 6 litres of nice red blood in my body, that should keep me occupied for a time...
